Help with Zebra Billy Can mod

Looking to modify the handle of a Zebra Billy Can, as per an article on another forum, but cannot find braided steel wire in short lengths. Does anyone have a small amount of wire and perhaps a couple of the crimping connectors that they can sell on or know where to get the wire in reasonable (non-industrial) lengths?

Go down your local bike shop and get some brake cable and for connectors cut open an electrical junction connector. Once tightened you can grind the screws down flush.

Bike Brake cable! The very item and I'm sure there is some in the garage somewhere. Later in the article the author answers the very question I asked and crimped brass tube will do a very neat job.

Or go down to the local council tip armed with a pair of wire cutters, loads of old bikes there ;)
