could be a fox but there would be more damage probly, so could be crows / corvids.

I'm with corvids too.
They have gone in at natural entry points like ears and eyes, it very typical of Corvids.

Halfway there - there was corvid activity going on but the main damage wasn't caused by them.

Apart from some superficial damage by corvids, it wasn't a bird.

was it multiple creatures, or a singular beasty?

The head was intact when first seen, some crows had a quick pop at it before something else came along.

No sign of skin flaps, so I'm guessing it was something big like a badger that could take it off like that.

He hasnt yet said where the attack happened! so still possible
Dave
Not another pheasant attack surely?
though what that has to do with June 6th I have no idea - June 6th - D-Day? D for dog?
OK - must be a fox then - just not a twin attacking one maybe?

You got it, but it wasn't an adult.
I wondered if the date would help as June(ish) time is when the vixen dries up on the milk front and the cubs need to start preparing for the big bad world around then.
I'm presuming the cheeks would be a nice fleshy bit to get ones young teeth into. He was certainly having a right go.

Cheers, I see them about 2 or 3 times a week in the daytime and in the evenings.
I was a bit concerned for them one night when I saw 2 big brocks patrolling around the area, I'm fairly sure they were trying to find the cubs to kill them.
Lanny did said it could be fox but changed his mind because the damage wasn't so great.
