Has anyone seen Herb Robert with white flowers? None of my ID books give white flowers as a possibility. I saw this recently, and I am certain it is Herb Robert.

And here it is next to some regular pink variety:

There were several of the white plants in the locality. Those with white flowers were exclusively white, no mix of white and pink on the same plant. I have never seen the white flowered variety at any other location.
Have I inadvertantly discovered a new subspecies?

Neat :D
Certainly looks like it........never seen a white one before either
It's a weed in my garden, pretty though and easily removed, but it gets huge given the chance.

Bound to be one of the botanists along to say yeah or nay :D

cheers,
Toddy

I believe there is occasionally a mutation.

Just checked my hamlyn id book and it says you do see white flowers rarely.

Thanks Listenclear - my book (Collins Complete Flower Guide by David Streeter et al) which I thought was the most comprehensive is obviously not as good as all that!
Shame I won't get any credit for discovering a rarity.

Maybe not, but we know it can happen now :D
That's a result :D

Yeah for sure and I wouldn't have read all the info in my book if I hadn't been looking for that information.
I often find that you need to read a few different texts to get a better idea of stuff - one book is never enough (or that's my excuse anyway).
Still, it is a rare find so good show
