View Full Version : Hello from the Southwest
Hi
Just a short introduction, I’ve been interested in primitive technology and other aspects of bushcraft for years, however … It’s been more about understanding and appreciating than doing!!, both my wife and I enjoy basic camping and have discussed the possibility of doing some form of introduction to bushcraft, so at some point in the near future I think we will be taking the plunge with a short course.
We regularly cook outdoors (I don’t mean the BBQ!) so I think we are about ready to take a plunge into something a bit more interesting
Would be interested to know if there is anything specific going on down here in the Southwest

Hello and welcome
get stuck in its great here:)
Good to have you aboard Mark!
Hi Mark,
Good to have you on board, the west country chapter is getting to quite a size.
We have'nt organized a massive amount yet, but are keen to get people talking and meeting up, perhaps just for a day walk on the moors or local woodland.
As you will see from the Tones link there is a moorland gathering in July that is becoming an annual event.
Courses - talk to others on here about the various one that they have been on. Probably a group of us will be travelling up to Wilderness Gathering in September, this is a shop window for many schools and may be a good starting point.
I must'nt forget the BCUK meet-up @ the end of May, near Reading. These meet-ups are good events to learn new skills, put faces to names and get a very good taste of the bushcraft commmunity in the UK.
Talk to you soon.
Neil
