View Full Version : cold weather clothing?
Hi guys,
I'm new to this forum, this infact is my first thread. I've been browsing on bcuk for a bit now and you guy's seem to know your stuff, so I wanted to know if anyone could give me a little advice on some kit?
Its basically clothing for cold weather, I've looked at gaberdine but I'm especially interested in Ventile cotton. Does anybody know much about this material. Who makes it? where can I get it from? and what kind of stuff is on offer? is it expensive?
Any help would be very much appreciated, cheers.
Swanni.
Hiya Swanni. welcome to the forum. :)
The search function is very useful on this forum. I tapped in "Ventile" and got the following results. http://72.36.134.230/community/search.php?searchid=7061
I'm sure one of these threads will answer your questions.
Cheers,
Martin

How cold are we talking? UK winter, arctic winter, arctic summer, high elevation?
Welcome to the Forum..
arctic hobo's question is an improtant one when your considering clothing.. also what activitys are you mainly going to be doing, what kind of heat is your body going to be making for you?
you seem to be asking for information on a cold weather shells rather than insulative clothing.
it would be usful to know how cold the conditions you intend to use them in are.
if it is cold enough that rain is not going to be an issue (below 0) then you would be better off getting a windproof shell rather than a water proof one, as the windproof will be more permeable and allow the sweat from exersion to pass though it rather then freeze on the inside
