View Full Version : Newbie alert!
Hi all,
Just wanted to say hi and introduce myself.
Up until a couple of weekends ago I was an armchair bushcrafter, then I attended Bearclaws Greenhorn course and had a fantastic weekend in Ashdown forest.
I think the bug may have bitten and I'm looking forward to doing more. Last week when I picked my son up from Beavers I spoke to one of the scout leaders and have found a woodland site near me where I can have open fires and camp out.
Just browsing the forums here has shown me what a huge subject bushcraft is, I am very much looking forward to learning as much as I can about the subject.
Simon.
Welcome mate, it sounds like you had a good time, have a good look about here as there's lots of info :D

Welcome! :D
Thanks for the welcome guys.
No questions as yet, but I'm sure there will be some. I'll probably just lurk for a while and read what others post and try and take it all in.

I gave it another shot at getting on the site yesterday and hey presto it's working!
For the last three weeks or so It's been down hasn't it, I hope it stays up now. There's some facinating stuff on here.
I'm glad I didn't have your drive home, hope you got back safely. I used to do a lot of driving and sometimes spent most of the day in the car, it's bloody knackering.
Simon
Hello Simon (Slimey) and hello as well Simon (Simonsays) Good to see you both here. :)
It's nice to be able to put faces to names now. Have you recovered from the course yet? I didn't envy your journeys at all, but at least you didn't put your cars in the ditch (I hope?)
Did you enjoy the Greenhorn couse? I learnt so much in such a short time!! Im already looking at going on the tenderfoot course next year.
Cheers,
Martin
Hi Shinobi.
Yep, I managed to avoid all the ditches! :)
I thoroughly enjoyed the course, it was over all to soon. Just as you start getting settled into the daily routine, the weekends over.
The Tenderfoot course sounds good, but also expensive. I need to sort out the family's holidays before I start looking at another course for myself.
Hopefully I'll be able to get to one of the gatherings in Ashdown this year.
Simon.
