Has anyone tried using a Tatonka Tarp 1 with a hammock? It's a big tarp (4.45m x 4.25m) with a double ridgeline, and I'm concerned that it's going to be too long to hang with a Clark hammock. Would love to make it work so that I can have a decent living area as well as the hammock up.

Ideas/experiences appreciated!

TIA,

I've seen Wayland using a big Tatonka but I'm not sure if it's the big mother or not.

I use the DD XL sometimes which is 4.5m long and is a nice size I think, not sure how the Clark compares to my Blackbird for length though.

Thanks Rich. The two hammocks are about the same size so that's a clue. I've actually got a brand new Tarp 1, but don't want to take it outside and set it up and get it mucky only to discover that it's unfeasibly big...

Wayland has one, and after seeing it I bought one too...

Simon, you're a god in green ventile clothing. Just needed to be certain it could work - I'm off to the woods tomorrow to try it out :D

You been looking in my wardrobe?

As for the god bit, it's often said that I have the body of a god...Budha:D

Once you get used to setting it up you'll love it.

I found that it's easier to rig the ridge line, then attach the tarp using mini carabiners...it's just too heavy to lift when attached to the ridge line and get it tight enough. You can see how I mean in this picture..
