The weather was great, not a cloud in the sky all weekend although there was a bit of a chill in the early hours.
Friday
My set up:

View from my set up:

Purpose built designated fire areas:

http://img685.imageshack.us/img685/2314/mycooksetup002.jpg
These areas (about 20 in total meant that no scarring was evident and all ashes were cleared away.
We were given special, one- off permission to have a fire off of the designated areas
Cliff's New fire pit:

Then onto a night of Bushcraft TV:

Saturday
To start off Cliff made a Mountain-man Breakfast for us all:
http://img405.imageshack.us/img405/1139/mountainmanbreakfast001.jpg
http://img163.imageshack.us/img163/38/mountainmanbreakfast002.jpg
All tucking in:
http://img339.imageshack.us/img339/9982/mountainmanbreakfast005.jpg
http://img38.imageshack.us/img38/3083/mountainmanbreakfast006.jpg
Just a small wafer thin piece for me:
http://img99.imageshack.us/img99/313/mountainmanbreakfast004.jpg
Then to work that off, a walk around the area for a group bow-drill hunt from scratch:

Stuart carving the bearing block:

Clive making the bow:
http://img412.imageshack.us/img412/1114/groupfirebow001.jpg
Time to burn off some calories ( some more than others before you say it )
Cliff:
http://img689.imageshack.us/img689/9429/clifffirebow001.jpg
Clive:
http://img89.imageshack.us/img89/1903/clivefirebow002.jpg

Stuart:
http://img391.imageshack.us/img391/5125/stuartfirebow001.jpg
The dampness of the wood was apparent, so after some "cooking" under the fire-pit, Stuart gave it one more go and did get smoke:
http://img7.imageshack.us/img7/3296/stuartfirebow0018.jpg
A little more drying of the components and success wont be far off.
Stuart making Bannock with added fruit leather:

Looks like it was another good one, great to see some skills being employed! It's making me proper hungry though, especially the mountain man breakfast...you must attract empty stomaches like a fiddler does a barn dance by now. All the food looks nice but what exactly did Cliff do for the breakfast? Roll on lunchtime!:drive:

Fry sausages off , remove .
Fry small cubed potatos off
put sausages back in
add wisked eggs
season to taste .
It was megga .
Next time it will be funkyed a bit , onion , garlic , cheese , bacon and a pan of freshly made baked beans :D,,,

I had to try the mountain man breakfast for my tea last night, it was well nice! I used salami, onion, potato, garlic and cheese and threw a handful of corn meal into the whisked egg. Even my wife thought it was lush, thanks for the idea guys! Sounds wrong but it's nice with a drop of maple syrup drizzled over the top. Happy days:D

It's definately a Canadian thing, and as Steve says a North American thing at that. I can't get enough maple syrup on my food, it even goes in my cowboy coffee sometimes. Makes some people wretch watching me eat a breakfast! All the mountain man recipes I see contain corn meal as well so I thought I'd throw a bit in for good measure. Live fast die fat, Elvis diet all the way, hummana hummana. Thanks again for the recipe guys, it's a goer:You_Rock_

You've never tried it 'cause you don't like it, eh?
Honestly, I thought that until I first tried it in Chicago about 30 years ago. That and root beer. To be honest the root beer took a week or so but I was hooked for life on the maple syrup breakfast thing the minute I tasted it. It has to be real maple syrup though, I can't be doin' with this corn substitute stuff.
