what about dumpster diving and gathering bits to be remanufactured into kit spending time is a good substitute for spending money

beg, steel and borrow?

your best bet is seccond hand kit, car boots and charity shops like tengu said. my mum got me a pair of trousers for £3 in a charity shop in good as new condition not knowing they are craghoppers worth £25!:)

army surplus is always good value for money too.

making and repairing old stuff is always good. this also gives you the benifit of lerning how to fix it if it goes wrong again and you are never afraid to use it without being scared of scratching it like many owners of expensive custom knives.

you can make your own charcoal forge out of a cupple of old sourcepans and a inflatable bed pump. with this you can turn useless dull files into superb knives and flint and steel sets with a little know how.

how about making a bucksaw?

the posabilities are endless!:)

Get yourself on your local freecycle and ask for old hatchets, billhooks and crosscut/bucking saws. Use your car to pick them up! ;)

lol Drew is it just the sake of buying something (anything) or are you looking for an item in general.

My first advice would me to wait till you have the money you need!!

or

See if you can get cheaper car insurance and spoend the difference!!

or

Swap somethings for stuff you might want (or sell)

or

Ask for a payrise!!

I could go on I think but I wont coz the footy is on, Hope you get somewhere mate its not good having an itch you cannot scratch!!lol

Buy a nice Dougster/Mick Spain bushy knife from the classifieds and don't worry about paying a penny until the end of the month ;)

Find a local underpass near a shopping centre and try you hand at singing. Oh, you will need a cap for the money!:)

swapshop and sell, also if you have a guitar or other instrument and are anything from poor to reasonable at it get out and busk, it may take a good 8 hours at your local town centre area (move around a fair amount) but a half hours worth of songs can be played over and over and people won't notice ;)
i've got a pdf busking guide if you want it, quite handy tbh.

Wow you got so many interesting suggestions. Some of them are really good. I personally would also suggest to look for a cheaper car insurance. Maybe it is also possible to get another classification of your car insurance (http://www.autoversicherung-online.info/KFZ-Versicherung/Comparison-Germany-USA/Classification). Hopefully it is possible to get you a cheaper insurance. Besides this the idea with the lottery ticket is also nice. :p I keep my fingers crossed for you.
