I recently took delivery of a Svord Peasant knife which I love. Apparently made to a 400 yr old bulgarian pattern. I wondered why I liked the knife so much as I'm not really up on folders. Then I remembered one of my other faves my Petzl Spatha. I dug it out and put them side by side.... Well I'll let you decide, but design wise it seems the saying "If it isn't broke, don't fix it" has been put to good use by both Svord and Petzl !! :)

Been eyeing up a Spartha in the Petzl catalogue but wouldn't mind knowing a bit more about them.
Do they have a spring to hold them open at all? Any good?

I ground the tip down on mine more and convexed the whole blade, the tip of my Svord was even more ridiculous then your one! (Ooooeeer!) It is now an amazing blade, and the whole design is so simple, secure and useful, plus it is EDC-able. I need to make one more slight modification and it will be absolutely spot on. I used to think they were pretty weird looking and didn't think I'd get on with them, but after using one I can understand how useful they are and how clever a design it is.

I can recommend both these blades. The spatha does have a light spring to hold it open, but in my opinion the Svord is better steel
