Morning All
Has any of you good people any experience of the axe mentioned in the title?
found it last night whilst mooching through hennie site http://www.heinnie.com/product.asp?strParents=&CAT_ID=0&P_ID=4614&strPageHistory=search&numSearchStartRecord=13 was wondering what opinions people had of them?

They look great, but I hear they are too small to be any use and aren't all that good anyway. Find a decent double head/cruiser on eBay and stick a handle on it.

It does look a nice axe.
Mind you if you loose it out in the woods then you have lost your Marbles.

Its a piece of junk

I had one. It was so light and flimsy that it struggled with kindling

I gave it away as a prize on here and Jon p who won it didn't like it either

I think you will ne disappointed

I owned 1 for a very short time, I used it once, well I say used,it wasn't any use at all tobe honest.
so I sold it.
it would make a nice wall Mounted piece, but other than that I would'nt bother with them.
They really are to small to be a useful tool

So why is it bad compared to Nessmuks?

it must be similar to his. (how heavy was his anyway?)

So having shot down my idea anyone got a suggestion of a two headed axe to fulfill my nessmuk leanings?

The only great one currently in production that I know of is made by Lee Reeves (12 month waiting list though)

Wish I could be more helpful :(

Lees work is worth the wait though!

It does fine as a wildlife (game meat) and light camp hatchet. Not perfect but worth the $20 I payed for mine c/o e-bay some years ago.

You can't do anything about the weight and balance but re-profiling each edge is a good move. One for splitting and the other ground and honed flat for razor sharp controlled work.

I gave the tacky looking mask to the garbage men.

There's a pic somewhere on here of the replacement with belt loop, hanger and, I believe, the re-ground edges.

Cheers

Size has always been an issue!

It's not the size of the axe, it's the maniac who wields it... and, the size of HIS axe...

Nessmuk does mention cost, or rather how his friends mocked him for paying $200 for a $40 hatchet (rough equivalent, 1880's $ : today's $) .

Maybe wait 12 months for the $200 hatchet, :dunno: perhaps you will get more out of it.

To me, the Marbles looks like a $12 tool being sold for $60. It does cost a bit to have these things shipped half way round the world. I have never seen the Marbles, just the link above, certainly I am no expert, but is that a tiny eye or what? Where is it made? (not too thrilled with my Marbles compass, btw)

Off topic and a ''wee'' rant: Please do consider the American made Hatchet, we ( the U.S.) need the work. I'll just bet you can find a Maker much closer to home; all custom to your specs, pass on to your children kind of thing. Something you would never lose in the woods.
