My brother has a faded red rucksack, which looks pink and he is looking to dye it. its made from denier, anyone dyed a rucksack before?

I'm only familiar with denier as a measurement for cloth density, not as a fabric itself. If the pack is a natural fabric like cotton canvas, or hemp then dying it should be fine using a regular clothing dye (here in Canada the brands RIT and Tintex are most common). If the pack is made of nylon or another synthetic material then it probably won't take dye very well. Some low density plastics will absorb some tint from dye at a high temperature (close to boiling), but it generally fades quickly.

If it is synthetic material you could try a tin of automotive spray paint
