After taking miles more than I needed and a bad back from riding with a Bergen full I have decided I need a smaller bag. Whilst in Millets today we saw this
http://www.millets.co.uk/rucksacks/ramblesacks/product/094799.html
Its nice and cheap (very big factor at the moment) and its big enough for a days kit for either myself or me and the other half.
Just wondered if anyone else had any other suggestions bearing in mind the cheap pirce tag
What are you riding ?
I would have thought panniers and a small backpack would be a better idea. Riding anything with a full bergan on your back does sound like hard work.

zx6r, have a tank bag and pannier but getting off and then having to try and carry them on a walk to the site isnt as easy as it could be

I've a Vaude Triset 25+4 and it's a great wee pack, sounds like the kind of thing you're looking for.
I got it at Go Outdoors a year or so ago for £25.
After crashing an RF900r wearing a small daysack, I'd say stick with panniers and tank bag.
The contents of my daysack made a bad accident far worse...

Right gotcha
So you need something that's easier to carry than dismantling the panniers and lugging them about.
How far do you normally walk to a camp if you've got the bike ?
Maybe something like a big drysack with straps would do you better. You could store it flat in your pannier and then empty the contents into it when you reach your destination.
I use one of these for canoeing and they're great for carrying ...

Didn't realise the Trisets had gone up in price so much, some as much as £60
Here's one at £30 though Linky (http://www.gear-zone.co.uk/eshop/Vaude-Triset-25+4---AW06.html)

I've got one of them and all, a bit small sometimes, but as another back sufferer, it is one of the most comfortable to carry that I have found.

Thanks guys I will have a look at getting one of them. I also looked at the mini bergens in DPM (very much a DPM guy) thought they would be very hard wearing also
