View Full Version : good qualty para cord
hi everyone i bought some para cord from the net and i got 2 different kinds..both are cheap and not very good..where is a good place too buy cord or rope for my dd tarp and whats about the right length for a ridge line?? ie..is 6mtrs enough..sorry about these daft questions as i have never used a tarp and hammock and just want to practise setting it up a few times before i go out..thanx shogun..
The proper stuff is pretty hard to find thesedays I've found. There's loads of the newer stuff floating about but I've found it too stretchy and not up to much. Strength wise it's not too bad but it's got a nasty habit of twisting and tying itself in knots.
Try Endicotts if you want the proper stuff, I got a bunch off Kev a few months ago so could be worth a shout.
I use at least a seven metre ridgeline and four metre guys, I've found having too much is better than not having enough.
yeah the stuff i got is too stretchy and the inner stuff dosent move with the outside..and the other stuff i got is flat...but i will have a look at Endicotts cheers shogun

both endicotts and thebushcraftstore.co.uk are where i've got cord from before now, good stuff tbh. the endi's stuff is actually cut off parachutes hence its 9 foot lengths ;)
the bushcraft store stuff is contactor made in the USA to military spec, 7 strand inner etc and works very well.

fivestarcord are 'extremely' expensive...equates to £10 per 100ft...jeez.
I'd go with bushcraftstore.....£5.50 per 100ft and it is certified 550 paracord

Another one from the bushcraft store from me, have bought bulk quantities from them as well 100m in one hit.
My main plus about them is that several suppliers are charging stupid money (so much so that it would be cheaper to import the stuff from the US) but these guys are charging IMO a reasonable price for the stuff + have found them to be very helpfull 10/10 for customer service.
Have a look in this e-bay store all the colours you could want.
