Reading Voyageur, by Robert Twigger was one of the influencing factors in my getting a couple of boats (not birch bark canoes though).
Prior to that book, I'd been wholly ignorant of the history, practicality, skill and beauty of these lovely craft.

Thanks to all for the kind words. Your forums have been a great source of info and inspiration. We (over in the states) have some groups and outings that would fall into the bushcraft style of doing things, but it seems that you folks really have a passion for it.
It's been cold, 30 degree F but I am looking forward to getting out as soon as the weather breaks a bit. For now, I am making your style of bushcraft knives and getting the "kit" squared away.
Thanks again and happy holidays.
Bob
