Does anyboby know what fuel to use in the swiss volcano stove. I think it is hexamine, but unsure.

I have tried wood and it smokes more than a traction engine, and generates very little heat.

I have had a good look on youtube and there is a fair bit of info on there.

A pop can stove fits nicely in the bottom of mine. Very clean and light weight.

A tip; to reduce the amount of time needed to bring it to the boil is to put hot water in before you pack it for the day. Be careful that you don't burn your fingers on it when putting it away or taking it out though.

With wood you really have to let it 'chimney' first then put the mug/bottle on.

I've been using greenheat in mine. It only burns for about 10mins and gets the water to just below boiling point. However, that could down to poor technique rather than the fuel.
