All,

Just found this while looking into Latin:

Some of the latin names seem interesting.

Quite good that, my mother is quite good with that sort of thing but that's because she did Latin at Grammar school.

It's also surprising to see how many of those words have made their way into everyday life.

I did Latin at school, and the vocabulary is clear enough, but the grammar was a nightmare :o

It's still a good idea, one worldwide name for everything. Local names don't get in the way of understanding, especially with the net.

On my woodsmoke course there was one guy that knew quite a lot of latin plant names, but then he was a gardener. :)
Seems interesting that the names actually mean something and can be quite useful.
