It's business (nearly!) as normal!
We struck lucky and only got a few inches of water so we only lost the stuff on the bottom shelves. Replacement stock is on order and should be in soon.
Next week I'll be looking at what can be sold as flood damaged, some kelly kettles, Karrimor, Highlander, and Maxpedition bits probably.

That's great news Lurch. Will your insurance pay for any losses incurred in your 'early' sale? Wouldn't want to take advantage:red: although I could be persuaded :lmao:

Glad to hear you got away relatively lightly Mark.

You going to be looking for new premises with less chance of flooding?

Lurch
29-11-2009, 14:29
No, I don't think so. This level of flooding is unprecedented. If we get hit again or if the insurance rockets I might change my mind, but the unit is really handy for home.

how did the water get in? was it through access points or straight through the walls? Might be an idea to put a ring of sandbags around the building, or just have higher shelves :D

glad you survived.

I was sorry to hear that you were affected - it brings it home when someone you know / have had dealings with is involved.

However, I'm thrilled at your news and glad to hear it wasn't too bad.

I'll also be very interested to see whether I can 'help' by taking some of the flood damaged stock off your hands. :D

;) Glad you're up on the game. Just one question_ How can a KK suffer from immersion in water?

TGB

brancho
02-12-2009, 15:47
ow can a KK suffer from immersion in water?

Packaging and the cork damaged by dirty water the KK will need a clean perhaps.

Lurch
02-12-2009, 23:33
Yup. Box, bag, instructions plus grub on the kettle from silt etc.
Not gonna make any odds to an end user but I can't sell them as new, let's face it you aren't gonna be impressed to find your new kelly kettle is muddy out the (soggy!) box!

Judging by the responses on this thread, you should at least be able to clear much of the gear that you wouldn't normally be able to sell. I hope that that's some comfort to you (hugs)

 How many flood damaged KK have you and what are you asking for them? Also, are they aluminium or SS?

I guess that the interest in KK's here shows that if someone could produce them cheaper, they would be really popular!

Hi Mark,

As I said I would I've put my money where my posting fingers were and made a purchase from you. As I said before Lurch is one of the good guys, lets help him out and not be vulture like. Which I know is a redundant statement as we're all lovely folk here lol.

Glad you're up and running mate, Have been flooded out myself twice. Once in the house up where I used to live in Inverness and the second in my old shop in Perthshire where a big undulating roof, a faulty pipe cap and a freak hail storm did for me.

Hi Mark / Lurch,

Just to say that my parcel arrived promptly today.

Can I just say what a five star service I recieved from Lakeland.

I placed my order, feeling very safe shopping online there, the site seems locked up tight, and even was linked to my banks online security measures which no other I've bought from is. I then recieved an extra message from the courier service saying when it would arrive and offering a tracking service... which I didn't get a chance to use as it was at my door, coseted safely in oddles of packing with a wee surprise thrown in the next day.

Considering Mark only last week was wading his way in, and it's such a busy time of year, plus I'm in outdoor retail too... WOW, I'll be shopping there again and have been pointing friends and customers in his direction.

Excellent service with a friendly ( though Lurch should be scarey huh ) face.

Many thanks

Colin.

Aye the thought 'coals to Newcastle' crossed my mind when I was doing the label for your package!

Lurch,

I could've gone through "channels", as we do deal with the company that the item I bought from you is from. ( Prezzie so shhhh), but your prices are good and I'd promised to help out by buying.

I think we've all got to help out the good guys, otherwise they won't be there when we need them.

Lakeland is fast, honest, secure and has a great range.

So more than happy to buy ( import coals ) and support mate.

Plus you do some sexy kit that we don't...:o

Thanks for the excellent service yet again.

GB.

Plus it caused a smile from the other switched on chap in the shop... and he likes too, though the main thing on his wish list at the moment is a Potjie , so I've pointed him at Anchor Supplies.
