Same here - many thanks, i'm gonna try tanning it with some willow bark at the weekend. :-P
gb, let us know how you get on,i got a grummit pouch last year and already dyed it. got another from him the other day and the willow bark method sounds good,any chance of a "how to"?
I've never done myself before so it might not work. I think i saw it on an episode of country tracks, he boiled up some willow bark and some ash from the fire, let it cool, and then soaked the leather in it for a while.
I think i've got it on vid, i'll have a look later, and then post up exactly what he did. :biggthump

Not sure tom, i don't know much about leather.
i just had a look at the vid and he doesn't actually tell you how to make the solution to tan the leather but i think the bark he talked about was oak, the boiled willow bark was used to dye erm.. willow.
