Hello all

What a fantastic community BCUK is, I've been reading the site for a while now and I thought it's about time I introduced myself, so below is a micro autobiography:

Born 1972. As a child in the 70s & early 80s I was very fortunate and lived next to a wood in which I spent most of my time, building shelters, trapping (never successfully), climbing trees & having fun. Later in my teens my family moved into London and I became distracted by other things. .....long gap..... I'm now settled on the Kent/London border and with a little extra spare time at hand I have rediscovered my interest in the great outdoors & bushcraft. So here I am, reading, learning & unfortunately not doing.

I have family in Northern Italy & Slovenia, both of which I visit regularly. Other interests include Motorbikes & gadgets. I own a Ducati Multistrada on which myself and partner took a fantastic road trip to the Italian Dolomites last summer.

My gorgeous partner of nearly 6 years is Polish and we are giving serious consideration of moving to either rural Poland or Slovenia in the near future. Before that though, we're off on a Woodcraft Essence of Bushcraft course in April and maybe to the Ashdown Forest meet if day trippers are welcome.

Cheers

Alan

Hi mate, welcome to the camp.

Everyone, thanks for the warm welcome. :-)

Jakunen, I mostly visit Potoroz/Piran on the coast, but I do head into the Postonja area, and yes, I have been to the caves.

At the moment I'm in Bromley, not very rural, but only a short step from some fantastic countryside. I need to do a little more research into where I can explore so I've got a couple OS landranger maps and will be trying to find some sites. I used to camp on a farm near Biggin Hill, that was a long time ago and I'm not sure if it's still an option.
