i'm slowly getting used to the reverse lens mount i got for megacheap off ebay (about £3 from hong kong). it works spectacularly providing you can hold the camera perfectly still and don't need anything with a depth of field more than a couple of mm or so.
the two of the 63 shots that actually worked (so much for one in ten :o) can be found here: http://daegurth.wordpress.com/
i just wandered into the back yard and took pictures of whatever was around. when the sun went in, the insects vanished, and i packed up. a couple of community officers then wandered up and (apologising profusely after seeing the expensive camera and jacket) said they'd thought i was bin raiding. that gave me a chuckle, especially since i'd seen a couple of things in skips that i might be nabbing when no one's looking. :bandit:
camera's an EOS 40D, lens an old (and slowly dying) 38-76mm that i got second hand about 6 years ago. why the odd focal lengths, i have no idea.
