View Full Version : Thoughts + Opinions on the Sabre 35 or Highlander Forces 33
Hi,
The thread title says it all.. I'm in the market for a small 35 ltr ish day sack...
My current thoughts are either a sabre 35 or a Highlander forces 33. There seems to be plenty of opinion on the Sabre 45 which is fine and dandy but I'm after some specific opinions on it's smaller brethren.
Cheers

i use the forces 33,nice and comfy and i can fit everything i want to in it and more :) for daytrips/geocaching
Having used sabres but not higlanders I can only comment on the quality of the sabres.Whichever sabre you have the quality is excellent.
I have a Sabre 30 - like the 35 but no side pockets - and I love it. It is my preferred daypack for both winter and summer jaunts in the hills and is tough as old boots. I wanted the one without the side pockets so that I could strap on poles or other stuff (tent, water bottles etc.)
Thanks for the replys thus far....
How does the quality of the construction and buckes / material on the forces 33 stack up against the Sabre??
Cheers

I found the Highlander side pockets irksome 'cos they weren't big enough to take a 58 water bottle and cup.
Can't speak for the sabre 35 size.
Highlander was a good wee pack otherwise,I guess it might depend on how different folks pack their gear with regards to pocket size.
Personally I'd go for the sabre if buying again having used the 45 for a time.
Tom.
Hi thanks for all the feedback,
Interesting info on the Highlander thanks...
Does any one have a picture of a Sabre 35 in use on someones back??
I was wondering how high it sat on the back and if the waist belt was in reality any use at all???
Also I notice it has what look like zips above the pockets?? Anyone got any ideas what they might be for?? Tunnel pockets?? Access to main sack??

I have the Highlander Patrol TT. It's 40-45L. Short, as I guess it is designed to go over belt kit. I have worn it in snow, days out, on boats, in the woods and up Helvellyn. The fabric seems good and the zips seem pretty snag-proof so far. The side pockets on the patrol pack are big enough to swallow a large water bottle or 1l flask of coffee etc.
I am wondering about the Highlander 33/44 for my kids as I am impressed so far with the quality.
Cheers,
Steve
