It popular here in the states that one carries tabasco or hot sauce if they're going to cook a "wild" meats in the woods, just in case it wasn't cooked thoroughly enough.
Well, for those buscrafti who declare tabasco on the par with tap water, "Dave's Gourmet Insanity Sauces" have invented a MINI-PACK (http://www.davesgourmet.com/gifts.html) :o):

And Dave's Insanity is the sauce with the warning that you use only one drop at a time, and not recommended for heart patients :yikes:

There is a thread about city people being afraid of the woods. After eating some of this stuff you will no longer fear the woods, the city, trains, dogs, terrorists, HELL, labor government, liberal democrats, etc. :yikes: :o):

Just the thing for those cold winter nights out in the woods :-)

I love Dave's Insanity Sauce. The brits hava a nastier little monkey though called "Who Dares Burns!"... http://im.edirectory.co.uk/products/1537/i/whodareslg.jpg

This is totally mental :yikes:

Nah, mate, it's pretty bland stuff.

In Bermuda you can get Sherri pepper sauce. Take one pound of jalepeno or scotch bonnets, steep in a bottle of sherry, leave for a year then splash over food. And watch then sit back and awit spontaneos internal combustion...

Havent actually tried Who Dares Burns yet (never seen that one) Daves insanity however can't really be described as a taste, more of a feeling...

I once found myself in a "Chilli sauce shop" in San Diego and was presented with an entire wall of red bottles with different labels and found that there was little difference between one or the other apart from the label.
However, there is a fantastic Chilli festival here in Sussex every year Chilli festival (http://currypages.com/show.aspx?xslt=features/chillifiesta&title=Chilli+Fiesta) An entire weekend of good chilli tastes without thinking that the only good thing about chilli is heat = good. give it a try if you're in the area.

Cheers,

Martin

Thats one of the things I miss about living in asia. The range of chilli peppers available was just unimaginable, each with their own distinctive taste and you could have them fresh, dried, deep fried, pickled............ ah.... Back here in the UK I've mainly found the dried chilli's just hot with little or no taste and that really doesn't do the chilli pepper justice, but things are changing. Our local veg shop now stocks 4 varieties of fresh chilli peppers :-)

Ours are hopeless... Either locally grown (surprisingly good at times) or Dutch/African variations...

I have to get stuff shipped in, had a litte Habanero tree tree but I killed it

Overwatered I think.

I'll admit to liking a degree of heat which many find overpowering, but, that said I reckon there's different kinds of heat too.

Sometimes, like at breakfast for instance, I'll appreciate a milder dish.

My mate met a guy in the states who had a belt holster for his hot chilli sauce which he put on every meal he ate hence needing to carry it with him at all times.

Too true. I guy I used to work with loved the hottest curry you could get, but couln't take szechuan food as it was 'too hot'. I'm the other way round, I love Szechuan, but I'm not too keen on chilli heat (sounds daft that, sounds like cold heat...), and I like to taste all the flavours in a dish, not just the chilli.

Apparently i took it quite well...... at first.

At last, my favorite subject. This is where you get the Who Dares Burns, and also the rest of range:

http://www.hot-headz.com/
They used to do a really good habanero mayonaise...

Little story though - my mate fell asleep at a party after drinking way to much. We covered his lips with who dares burns and left him to it. He woke up and licked his lips and nearly passed out from the shock. He said it was worse than the pain you get breaking your arm. He got the shakes and all sorts....

:yikes: I bought a bottle of this last year and forgot about it for months. It came to pass ,that I added some to a left over curry to take to work.'Best be cautious' I thought 'a teaspoon or two shall suffice'.As I sat down on my break to eat it,the director of my organisatation, decided to interface with the underlings for some condecension practice and sat next to me accompanied by sundry lickspittles. You probably know the usuall management innanities-how long have you worked here,do you like it etc.I took my first (and only) mouthfull, then stood up screaming a fine range of obscenities, spat a mouthfull of satans liquid fire all all over the table , and ran to the bogs.Career seems to have stalled a bit......

I make a fantastic concoction with "pimenta malagueta", about the size of firecrackers and extra virgin olive oil. Let them soak a few hundred of them in the oil for a few months and use only the oil. About eight drops heats up a plate of beans and the smell is mouth watering. Smoke pork ribs and black beans with my pepper oil... Mac

I grow my own Red Savinas, and make sauces from them, but I still enjoy the flavour of a jalepeno in a curry, and the nuttiness of Thais. Flavour will always win over heat for me....

Being a confirmed chilli head I have, on occasion gotten chilli bits, chilli seeds and chilli juice in places where I shouldn't. Including but not limited to eyes and nether regions. Yes it hurts, yes it burns but it's...sort of acceptable and reminds you to be careful.

Last Thursday night I was making a chilli chicken concoction when I nicked my finger while chopping. No big shakes although it bled quite a bit.

Anyway, all was fine till I started chopping the chillis, not even mad chillis, just your run of the mill supermarket things. Some of the juices got into the cut...
It doesn't burn, it just hurts, hurts very badly..
