Ladies & Gents,

Has anybody any experience of using Civilian Lab kit? Especially the Escape RG?

I do quite a lot of biking and have increased the amount of adventure racing and long off-road stuff I'm doing (got a Boardman HT Comp - fabulous bike for the money and has really re-enthused me). I have been considering the Escape RG to use to hold maps and guide books, phone, iPod, bike tools, keys, etc, because of the easy frontal access, as I don't have pockets on my bike shorts or on the t-shirt/tops I usually use for biking.

No idea about the quality or comfort of the Civilian Lab products so any reviews/personal experience of their kit would be appreciated.

I suppose it could be used for bushcraft and other outdoor activities but I'd only really wear it under a jacket.

I use one of thier LT variants for day to day stuff, and also for outdoors use. one of the pouches on mine (it's fitted with 2) appears to be the same as the one you are intrested in, but without the rear removeable pocket, and different harness fittings.
the pouch won't fit OS sized maps, thier just a little too wide for the pouch, although I suppose you might be able to slip them in where the shuttle pouch should go.

the build quality on mine seems to be pretty good, with the only issue being the "civilian labs" branding on the zipper pulls coming off, which is a minor cosmetic issue, which personaly I don't mind whatsoever.

Thanks for that. The Escape RG does have the removable shuttle pouch included and I hadn't thought of using the pocket for an OS map - excellent idea!:beerchug:

the LT doesn't have the shuttle pouch, or anywhere to put it, so the map may not fit, but by the looks of it, the space for it has elastic sides, so it should stretch the mm or two it needs to fit one.

If I get one, I'll give it a try and let you know.

Ive got a Civilian Lab Specialist Covert Harness Bag and love it, just dont get the chance to wear it fully to often..

The build quality is great, but i guess you know that by now, as you have bought something from them...

Thinking about it, im going to put it up for swaps as im sure someone will get more useage out of it....

Have you had a look on EDC Forums?

I've only ever read good feedback from Civilian Labs owners, the only dislike was for the bright colour schemes, though I personally love the yellow and black, but wouldn't be seen dead wearing a rig with orange in it!

Crikey, what is that? Looks like something you might drop out of a black chopper wearing. Too Tom Clancy for me.

Too Tom Clancy for me.

I don't know why, but this made me laugh.
