Hi everyone,

Having just obtained some Fjällräven Barents Trousers :) I was just wondering how the wax impregnated fabric reacts to sitting near campfires. I mean does it melt but stay put or do you get waxdripping pants(which might even be a firehazard). If anyone has any experience with this I would appreciate any tips and info.

Cheers, Joris

Doesn't do anything, you'll be fine next to the fire.

If it gets really hot, as in you're probably sat to close to the fire anyway, it will soften up and then stiffen like cardboard when it cools.

Nothing to worry about though just from sitting by a fire

Thanks guys, and I also just thought of a second question: how easily does the material scorch eg. sparks from aforementionted campfire?

They get very hot, some much so that you are in greater danger jumping up and falling into the fire than them burning. you will be fine with sparks if you just brush them off and don't let them sit. that's the case if they are waxed or not. do remember that they aren't pure cotton so don't sleep in the open next to a fire in them.

I was out at the weekend pretty close to keep them dam flies away and all was well.
