Please remove me from the list. Sadly, I just won't have time to camp or spend quality time amongst the trees, although I will be briefly visiting the show.
Hope it goes well for you all.

Alright Neil, I could well be after that 58 patt. waterbottle pouch depending on how you've modded it. If it will still take a waterbottle and cruisader set up I'm after that mate.
I will confirm for definite whether I can go on Monday, in the middle of a system installation at the moment and I may have to work the odd weekend here and there to get it done in time.

Cheers fella, I always thought they'd fit the standard pouches but could well be wrong! Thanks for the insight on how squaddies spend their spare time...
Am thinking of putting together a Bushcraft starter kit to flog on e-bay... But then got to thinking.. I should be polite and offer it to you guy's first (I know you've all probably got loads of stuff already, but it would be rude not too!).
Some of you might know someone just starting out, or maybe bringing along a first timer?
Consisting of :-
1. 3/4 size Bergen
2. A green surplus/Raw vintage Anorak Large (worn once, cost 35 quid new)
3. DD Tarp (old type)
4. Nato water bottle
4. Hexi stove
5. Bag of Birch bark
6. Blue handled Mora
7. packet of 550 Paracord
8. Tinder box/tin
All of this for just £70.00 (there you go)
p.s. I know not to put the Mora on e-bay!

It's so easy to think what you write is funny (to you) but as this is written down without the ability to insert the element of humour or frivolity as you intended, it can get lost in translation to the recipient, and it could appear to them that your were being rude or cheeky mate. (Just my own thoughts on it)
Oh well, nearly time to go home.;):goodnight:

Cool wall stainless mug
I've also made-

a few bush blades
a dagger style blade

Right lads I have organized a couple of dozers to pop down on wednesday and level a bit of the wood to make way for the trade area.
I'm having a marque delivered wednesday afternoon and 30 wall paper tables delivered. I'm having a few porta loos delivered, baby changing area and a block of mobile shower units.
I reckon having checked the plans there is likely to be about 4 trees left standing so if you have any plans to pitch up a tarp or Hammock get in quick.
Not really.
Can't wait for the weekend it's going to be great and will be fantastic to bump into some of the regulars on here as well.

Right guys had a dig through the gear for sale / trade and here it is:
Large sand DPM stuff sack
XXL Sand DPM Goretex Jacket new
Various sized long sleeve DPM shirts
XL DPM Field Jacket
Olive Green Trousers x 3 (I would say about 30 inch waist)
Helmet Cover - dayglow yellow with red spots and holes cut in to mount sparklers. (*)
Norweign Thermal shirts various sizes from XL to Small
2 Canvas belts will fit a skinny bloke / girl. Or a fat bloke could put two together.
Very old Lowe Alpine 40 litre ruck sack in purple (ish)
Pattern 95? water bottle and plastic cup very used.
Nesting tins brand new
Olive green army woolley pully new size 106 (I guess medium)
Sure I will have more to add and unless stated all the DPM stuff is green.
(*) Its really green DPM
I'll bring the lot.
I've got a large carrier bag of D10, D15 and D11 surgical scalpel blades all individually wrapped in a sterile pack. They have passed their sterile date so can't be used for clinical work / surgery. I guess you could use them for cutting leather, cloth or if you're real unlucky fingers off. I'll bring the lot. These are gratis any left are going in the sharps box at work.
If you do take these please dispose of them responsibly after use. They are designed to cut skin, tissue and bone and are very unforgiving so Derek the Dusty doesn't want one stuck in his leg when he collects your rubbish.
... Dont spend your dosh at the NEC - spend it at "The Sign of the Red Dragon" ...
I think, between us, that we'd have been able to put on a stand there :lmao: .
... I'm having a marque delivered wednesday afternoon and 30 wall paper tables delivered ...
You got there before me :D .
... I'm having a few porta loos delivered, baby changing area and a block of mobile shower units ...
Nooo! :lmao: .
I think we'll have to slum it with a walk to a stationary but centrally heated block instead :o :lmao: .

It's a bit late mate but might be able to get the deposit back from the Mobile Sweat Lodge Company.
Might be a case of turning the Jacuuzi delivery driver away at the gate though.

I'd be very interested in one or two of these, I've been doing a lot of leather work recently and they would work a treat. I've got some intricate work for a leather possibles/posing pouch to do...

Pay for a mobile sweat lodge?
Bushy version - don a set of PVC waterproofs and then go wood collecting :campfire: :D .
And if you go wood collecting and pick up something a tad too heavy, you should bury your deposit! :o .

Bushy version (part ducks) - Eat some of Steves' spicy food and take a cooling dip in the bridging pond :lmao: .
Meet list:
44 spaces taken, 6 remaining - there are two names on my own tally which do not show on the forum list.

Approximately 358 days after booking the Meet and we're almost at the eve of the event :lmao: .
Time for a reminder of the, now updated, original post - please take note of the info it contains.
:lmao: With just a little ove 359 days to go ....
As with the ‘Midlands Outdoors Show Meet March 2009’, once again this Midlands Meet will be held to coincide with The Outdoors Show (http://www.outdoorsshowextra.co.uk/) 2010 . The show sets the date for the weekend as 26 - 28 March 2010. EDIT:Meet is for 25 - 28 March
Location is Rough Close (http://www.roughclose.org.uk/). This is a child friendly site and your youngsters are welcome.
Site map (http://www.roughclose.org.uk/p_Site_Map.ikml) and Grey scale (http://www.roughclose.org.uk/attachments/GreyscaleRC.pdf) map
Site fees are £4.40 (http://www.roughclose.org.uk/attachments/RC_Price_List_2010.pdf) - please note the information below.
The camp fees will not include entrance to the show!
There's no compunction to go to the show. If you'd like to come along to the Meet and just chill all weekend that's absolutely fine.
Important notice!
Any monies given (by individuals, groups, families etc) which is above the camping fees will be considered to be a donation to Rough Close campsite to aid with site maintenance, site regeneration etc.
Edit (in italics):
Having read the’ Leave no Trace’ (http://www.bushcraftuk.com/forum/showthread.php?t=52806) thread and to pre-empt possible problems, I feel the need to add:
Forum members are responsible for their own actions at a Meet – if you bring along family (or a friend) then you also accept responsibility for their actions whilst they are on site.
Forum members under the age of 18 are welcome. However, they must be accompanied by at least one parent (or legal guardian).
You brought it in, you take it out – camping fees do not include a rubbish collection fee!
Fees need to be paid. It’s rare, but some people forget.
Responsible drinking of alcohol is ok – drugs are prohibited!
‘Appropriate’ behaviour: The site can, at any time, decline a booking – they can also ask* us (individually or wholly) to leave during the Meet. Be aware that other users of the site might be passing by our pitch at any time of the day or night – I do get feedback!
* i.e. Tell. The site is registered as educational land, there is neither a choice nor an ability to negotiate. Fees would still be owed!
Dropping kit off - The parking bay by the adjacent Guild Field is for the use of those who have booked the field (and/or cabin). If the field/cabin is booked for use then it is a requirement that permission is sought (and given) before you drive down.
Parking - vehicles need to be parked up in the campers car park.
Fires – Fire scars reduce the options of where and how we can pitch – ground fires can leave dips in the ground. All traces of where a fire has been need to be properly removed (not dumped elsewhere) and the ground left as close (or better) as possible to it’s natural state.
The 'Touchy Subject' bit:
Because the site is, first and foremost, a Scout camp site, the only people we can't accommodate are those who would, purposely or otherwise, do harm to others. Primarily, this means that if you would be found unfit to adopt or foster a child then you can’t come along – same goes for anyone knowingly under investigation or having had an allegation made against them and is awaiting investigation.
EDIT:
It's fine if you want to:
be on your own
lie on your back looking at the sky, clouds, birds flying over et.c
whittle
practice 'stuff' - except tree felling; the site has strong opinions about that :lmao:
practice flora and fauna i.d
so on and so forth ...
This is, in no way, a bushcraft course and it's for you to make of it what you will.

Dec said he might be a bit busy today so in case he can't respond the usual time on site for folks arriving on site is from about 5pm. If you arrive a little bit before that then that's fine.
Friday I am assuming is the same otherwise you start running into day charges for the site.
Just about finished packing the car and drinking my coffee :) See you and everyone else tonight

Had a great time! Had a sodding awful hangover...
Cheers everyone for a great camp. My polish laavu with the ammo box stove was a great success and works just like a posh expensive one. Think I'll have to find some more ideas to trade home hade knives for. Nice dry background heat untill I woke as the ground released the heat it absorbed during the evening. Cooked a cracking bannock and brewed some cowboy coffee on the thick steel plate welded to the top. just opened the damper for more heat.
I enjoyed the show and spent most of the time wandering around the bushcraft area.
Spent up now on kit for teaching as there was some good bargins there on the basic kit. Good to see some familiar faces and see some of Ben Orfords lovely knives. The Nordic Outdoor chaps were nice folks to chat to as well, with all their temptations on show!
See you next time round and I'll try to remember all the links I said i'd pass on to folks.

The show wasn't a total let down given the comments I had heard from others we where prepared, although having got the wrong post code for the NEC we did do a bit of a site seeing tour of Birmingham for about an hour, but rushing back to the NEC, so not to miss anything we where a bit disappointed to have walked round it all in about 2hours, although subsequent loops we spotted a few things we had missed and the eco washing up liquid samples came in handy back at camp for washing the billies, windward looked busy on the nordicoutdoor stall, ronniesunshines was only cast iron stuff, although was tempted for a dutch oven after seeing what twodogs and martink9 where knocking up over at their camp. We took on board the natural navigation principles described by tristian gooley at the bushy bit and had no problems on the return navigation to RC.

Thanks Decorum for organizing another great event. Had an Bostin' time.
great to meet you all there, and a big shout out to the Naughty Corner :)
Martin, Cliff, Andy, Neil, Addo, Sasquash, Dave, Rich and the all the other I met.
The one pot cooking was awesome :)
Thanks John, woodspirts, steve and preper for the trades and everyone else for making it a great meet. As for the show I got some more kit and stuff and had a good time there even if it was smaller than last year and didn't take that long to get round to see the stuff I wanted to. Got to season my dutch oven now for the next one, and sort my kit out now :( and prep it for the next one.
Thanks Phil for this one.

Im on a Chorizo de-tox, bit dissapointed at the show,no real eye catcher's for me,but enjoyed Rough close, good to get amongst the mud and tree's ,rather than sand and rocks. cheers guys.
Had a great night guys.... And the van is still covered in mud (note to self...Transporter is not a 4X4) :D

My thanks to all who made my weekend a thing of beauty!
Especially - Mesquite and Decorum and of course all those who bought stuff off me or traded for goods...I actually covered my traveling expenses!
The show itself was a big disapointment - I recall the days when the area covered by the show this year would have held no more than the canoe and diving areanas!
The Meet, however, was more than worthwhile and I aquired more good kit on site than I did at the show!
Not so much "The heat, the dust, the flies" as " The rain, the mud, the Earwigs" but putting faces and names to site names was great, meeting old friends and new ones was terrific - and my ribs still ache from all the laughter!
Roll on the next one!

Think I should just add to this a massive thanks to the guys that popped over to my camp and made the camp out really great.
My dad had a great time as well and was hugely impressed by the sharps and kit that people took the time to show him.
Thanks to the lads in the naughty corner again who made fantastic hosts and kept the woods alive with the sounds of laughing followed by some very contented snoring. I gotta say I think Andy may have lifted the title from Neil following a long stretch of "chain sawing in a hammock" on saturday night.
Cheers lads.

Having conquered Roast Lamb at several Meets in the past the Naughty Corner decided to branch out at the Outdoors Show Meet held at Rough Close.
Twodogs had brought some Jamaican spice coating and a quick trip to Sainsbury's for the chicken breasts and chips we were off and going:

that chicken does look a might tasty.
thank you all at the meet you made me feel welcome as a newby had a good w/end . the chicken was very nice hope to meet up again if all to goes plan still thinking about a hammock ? not to sure about having to carry the ladder :hammock:
Thanks to Decorum for sorting the meet and Mesquite for letting me know it was on! Big thanks especially due to Dave52 for lifts and company. Only sorry I was only able to make it for Friday night. Thanks also to John Fenna for the molotov cocktail & company! In fact thanks to everyone who made my first meet a great time! Cheers!
Great pics Martin. You'll be on Ronnies stand next year brew on, frying up :lmao:
I’d also like to thank Decorum for organising the meet and also thank him, John Fenna and others for all the help and advice. No matter how much you read up on something there is nothing to beat being offered some advice and then having the opportunity to try it out straight away. I hope I will now know next time exactly how to light a fire - and keep it well alight – in damp conditions.
Thanks also to:
Mesquite, in particular for comments on knife law and CRB checks.
Nigeltm for all manner of tips
Also a quick tour round looking at other hammock set ups gave me some good ideas to help me set up and take down more quickly.
So all in all a great weekend which even the occasional dampness did nothing to spoil.

Only just got on at work as I got home Monday afternoon to find some numpty has screwed up at the exchange and half my town is without phone or internet
Had a really great time and it was good seeing old faces and meeting new ones as well. Wasn't that impressed by the show but that was more than made up by the time in the woods. Special thanks to Mad Dave and Dr Jones entertaining us with their stories and exploits :D
Thanks also to Decorum for facilitating the meet  Can't wait for the next one.
Looks like it was an excellent weekend. Great pics.
Stooboy, I'm heartened to see you wearing your wellies properly!!
"This season we will be wearing..."
I'm "beeling" that I missed this one (the heads up and lift offer was appreciated mate) but I'd be the only one not have brought chorizo. :)
Thanks for posting some great pics everyone.
All the best,
Liam
EDIT; What's the name of that Homebase folding cook box lads? Looks good.

Liam it says homebase flatpack charcoal bbq on the box, i bought two ages ago, they were on offer at a fiver each, i got two thinking they would be flimsy and wouldnt last long, the first has took some abuse both with charcoal and wood, and is still going strong so the others still sat in its box in my porch.

Yep big time ive got a stream running past the end of my road at the moment, and weve had some big sea's.
There will be a Meet scheduled for the end of March 2011.
Unfortunately there won't be a Midlands Outdoors Show Meet 2011 as the show has been moved to London (link (http://www.outdoorsshowextra.co.uk/the_show_2010/exhibitor_info/2011_london_shows))... it's a _teensy_ bit more than the 10 miles that made RC so well placed for a coinciding Meet :surrender: .
well i don't know who normally orgaises southern meets buy somwhere like fylands wood looks a good spot, its a bit more than 10 miles away but has good transport links and means you can park there without having to pay the congestion rip off...
located at new addington it would be a matter of.... tram to croyden, tram to Wimbledon, district line to tower gateway and DLR to the show
