I have to say, I am not a newbie to bushcraft. I'm only 16 (17 on friday), but I have been doing the whole paleo thing since I was ... well, small. I do slinging (under-rated, great weapon), archery (primitive, the one and only), primitive fishing.... too many things to mention really. I can start a fire with a hand drill and a fire plough (sod the bow drill - more "reliable" it may be, but it's bulky, ugly....). I've tried just about every wild food you'd care to name (yes, and many animals too - I have been bowhunting in America and Canada), I can make reasonable cordage from a variety of wild sources. I do a bit of weaving, flintknapping (beginner technically, I'm not great, to say the least), stone pecking, primitive woodcarving, I can spin cordage with home-made drop spinners (nettle and willowherb are my favourites)... I have many books on all of this, but there really is no substitute for experience. And heck, I just love it outdoors. (Who doesn't?)
