For those who are interested........ December 2004 issue of TRAIL Magazine has an excellent feature for those wanting to learn or brush up on navigation skills.
Another good book if you're just starting to learn to navigate is
http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/1871890543/qid=1100592303/sr=1-1/ref=sr_1_24_1/026-0758176-8809259
For those who are proficient in Navigation these 2 pieces are good for refreshing basics as we all have to do from time to time.

Pagan wolf - TRAIL is in my opinion the best magazine of it's kind in the UK.
For the people who are interested in gear, they do comprehensive tests from wet weather gear and fleeces to the best stoves and water bottles etc Each month they do a certain garment or item, with a mini test.
They have great route ideas for a day out or multi day hike.
Lots of hints and tips and as I said earlier in Decembers issue (which is out now) an excellent article on brushing up your navigation skills. + loads more besides. Try it out.

Nice one - I pick up a copy of Trail from time to time; should probably subscribe as I've always found it to be a very useful mag (especially for techy stuff, as mentioned).

Good timing as well, as I'm currently putting myself through plenty of navigation 'challenges' at the moment - perfect time of year for it, as you get a superb contrast between crystal clear views (especially after cold snaps) and pea-souper mists that force you to dead reckon just about everywhere ... all good 'fun' !

yeah i agree, a fine magazine, not quite as much international and cultural stuff as TGO, but they're both good in their own ways.
