Sharpening edge bevellers

Found this pdf from Tandys, thought folks might like it

The edge bevellers on it have curved cutting edge, mine's a straight edge. Do yours have this 'recessed rounded form'? If I'd got a spare I'd give reshaping it a go. Is it that much better?

I would grind the back, bottom of the blade to sharpen it. I did a similar thing y'day at school with two woodturning gouges.
