While the New Year Meet was kind of mellowing out one night, Windward mentioned that he'd like a Burn's Night meet up on the site.

That would be the weekend of the 25th January, not long away, I know

Any interest in this ?

cheers,
Toddy........who really will wear her arisaid this time round. :D

Hi Mary,i would be up for it.Are we talking about the Friday to the Sunday.

Toddy
14-01-2009, 23:36
I thought if we planned to cook a meal for all of us on the Saturday night that would mean that if folks wanted to make a long weekend around it, they could, or if they were only able to manage one day/ evening/ night/ whatever, that should be fine too. :)

Looking awfully quiet so far........

Russ is in a moonboot type cast now so that he can keep an eye on his stitches but he's not allowed to bear any weight on that foot.

cheers,

I'm still up for it...there was a chance I'd need to go south but thats not happening anymore. Think it could be a nice way to spend the weekend for a Burns night.

There's a chance I could bring a 15 man Tipi so if theres only a few of us we could be in there for cooking and eats. Will know soon.

Excellent , I was going to phone you later :D

No, I can't, it's got gluten in it.
However, I do have a recipe for one that's made with lentils and peanuts, so I'm going to give it a go and see how it tastes

Go on, bring the poi :D spinning fire around is serious fun :D

I might be pushing my luck as I'm also away camping in Feb.

But as I live so close, and space is unlikely to be an issue, I may well drop in with one or more of my sons.

I'm giving this thread a bump, and hoping that folks will give a heads up if they're seriously thinking of coming along or not.

The site ought to still be quiet enough that using the camping field shouldn't be a problem with other folks.
I don't think there'll be loads of us anyway, but a shared meal and a chance to sit and catch up would be good
It's still lightish to nearly five so maybe aim for dinner the back of six ? and then a mellow company, a supper to clear the decks ?
Play with poi, make some music, pass the quaich around, recall some of the Bard's words :) toast his memory and enjoy the company.

The woods are good for the hammocks, the campsite is easy to reach from the car, loos and showers and hot running water, all excellent. Open fires actively encouraged :D
http://www.comriecroft.com

If folks are happy with this I'll phone the site tomorrow and see what they say about a parachute ( or a byre ) just in case.

Hey Windward :) This was a good idea you had :approve:

No idea what the weather will be like though :dunno:

I'll leave the thread until lunchtimish and then phone George or Andrew and see how it goes.

Russ is bored out of his tree, the plan is to pick him up on Saturday morning and bring him through, so we'll see you then.

I've got a half sewn bush shirt that I'll bring along to let you see the underarm detail that you need for your one.

I'm looking forward to this jaunt :D

Okay, we're set to go :D

I phoned Comriecroft, the chute and firebowl are on site but not up, provision is available for really wet miserable weather, folks are bringing food and themselves  and all they need to do is register asap after they arrive (next morning will do ) to make sure the site's public liability is covered.

That's pretty much it really :D

Soooo looking forward to being outdoors all day for a change, I'm scunnered sick of housework :o

See you all there :D

Would have come along but off to see Pigeon Top on friday and Kathy Mattea on saturday.
January's always a write-off for me with Celtic Connections on the go. All the folksie bands get crammed into one month which is fun during that month but means you don't get much during the rest of the year.
Little Feat have cancelled:(. Was really looking forward to that one.

Have a great time. See you all soon.

Hi Mary,Is there anything i could bring for the communal cook up? and do you have anything in particular in mind,as i need to start getting food and kit organized. Me and the wee yin are heading up Friday afternoon,so as we can get the tipi up before dark.

Thanks Stuart.

21-01-2009, 22:02
I thought broth, haggis, neeps and tatties and clootie dumpling with cream (I know, Russ will want custard :D ) and a quaich or two of the whisky on the Saturday evening would probably do fine.
Warm and filling and suits all sizes of appetites

Gailainne has got a metre of black pudding  so he'll probably be up for sharing that if folks bring the eggs and bacon, onions, tomatoes and mushrooms. What doesn't get eaten of the dumpling on the Saturday can be fried up with that lot and fresh tattie scones and skirlie for brunch on the Sunday.

How does that sound ?
Additions of venison, goose, or whathavefolks would probably go down well too.

What size is your wee one ? I might have an arisaid that would fit.....

M

Hello all, I think I did the correct thing by being a girlie and going home on Saturday night. I had a great day and it was good to meet up with you all, even though it was just a small group. Toddy remember to cut the tatties a bit smaller they cook quicker.
Love to all

Yeah it was a good weekend, although by late Friday afternoon I thought I was gonna be there on my lonesome ;) luckily Stuart and Sophie turned up, so I did'nt feel a complete plonker under that big parachute by myself :o.

I didnt take many pics, but I did take a video of Denise on the fire poi plus a couple of stills of Toddy.
