Thought I'd put up a couple of pics of my first stick tang effort. Made a few mistakes - thought it might help anyone else having a go if I posted them here!

Blade is from Brisa, handle in curly birch, leather and moose antler.

Mistakes; when I glued and then clamped the handle components I clamped the butt of the handle and the leading edge/bolster of the handle - I should have clamped handle butt to blade tip (secured in a piece of wood). Because I only clamped the handle, it didn't seat fully down on to the blade - there's a small gap which is annoying! There is also a very slight gap between one of the leather spacers and the birch - not entirely sure why, I guess it may be to do with how I glued (epoxy) and clamped again.

Managed to rivet over the end of the tang pretty successfully without major splitting.

I enjoyed the process but will be sticking to more leather work for the time being - I'll be trying this again though I'm sure!

Thanks for looking :)

Similiar mistakes to my first knife but I learned from them and I am getting better at it.

One thing I would say is if you going Sami style the handle would a straighter profile instead of getting wider towards the bolster and you still could change that.

Not bad at all mate I like it, like Alf says you learn by mistakes and you'll only get better just needs a sheath now.

All the best.

I would like to see a Sami style sheath with an antler section for the blade:D

All scrimshaw as well??

I will make a sheath, probably have a go at sami style rather than western. Might well thin out the bolster as mentioned first.

Thanks for the comments - if I never made a mistake I wouldn't learn as much

nice knife, at least it's unique in it's own way. Those flaws could become a point of attachment for u lol
