I slept on one of these down in Cornwall a couple of years ago and really want to get hold of one. It's basically a strong canvassy type sheet with two sewn pole holes down the sides. Best night sleep I've had in a long time!!

1) What's it called?
2) Where can I get one?

Cheers

Can't see a picture, but what you are describing sounds like a camping bed you can get from Argos for a tenner. Though I dare say a bushcraft specialist will sell you one for twice that if you want a better label on it.

I payed a bit more for mine it was pricey because it was german! it has that extra width.. I havent used it myself but when my parents stay over they get to sleep on them and they say there better than there own bed at home!!!

it could be an: "SAS" hammock/pole bed/stretcher or a copy of it.
I sold one here a few months back. they make a brilliant camp bed if you set them up with a pair of a frames.
I can't see the picture either mind you! so I'm guessing:D

p.s. there's no loops or anything, just two pole sliders down the sides...

I think that's what durulz is talking about, but that's not what I'm after (already got one!).

Ah yes, but here's what you do (well, I do anyway).
I take the canvass and metal side poles when camping and make an A frame on site to construct the type of bed you have a picture of!
I did once just take the canvass, but the side holes are quite small and the only branches that slip into them break (I found out the hard way), so you also need to take the metal poles.
I never found it that comfy though, and was always waiting for it to collapse (never did), so could never relax and stopped taking it (the poles weigh quite a bit anyway).
That's what I was thinking.

That looks like an updated version of ones I've seen, I'm sure they were canvas.

They did used to be canvas, but like everything elese has gone light(er)weight!

I think this is the modern equivalent tho.

Not exactly, fortunately I've found out from the horses mouth (sorry Smarty!), it's called a Pole Bed in army words. Hopefully (assuming acceptable trade!) I may be able to get hold of one.

Thanks for all the help though!
