My lovely missus is thinking of buying me a swannie bush shirt for chrimbo, and I've seen on the web that different sizes are quoted in inces for the M L and XL, so my question is this. I'm a 42" chest and don't like my clothing too baggy that it's hangin off me so what size would be best ?? I think it's between the L and the XL

I would say large im 43inch chest and it fits me a treat, med is too small and XL will swamp you..

I'm a 40inch chest and M has enough room. I would say don't go for xl if you don't like baggy.

I'm like tenbears10, a Swannie "M" fits my scrawny 40" chest about right with enough room underneath for a couple of thin layers. I felt a "L" was just that bit too roomy, so it'll probably do for you.

Cheers,

All things being equal Maddave, an L should be fine for a 42". Large in fact goes up to 44.

Im a 42" myself and I generally opt for a xl in swanni size fits me ok -http://img78.photobucket.com/albums/v342/bearclaw/cadetbigpic.bmp - well I think so anyway.

Just after the first show there where some questions about the jacket by some Kitaholics  worn by Mr Mears.
Can't find the thread it was in ... , but here is a link (http://www.outdoorsupplies.co.nz/swazi.htm#rainwear) to the jacket / swanni (in this case: swazi, actually).

That Jacket Is a Swazi Thar Anorak

you can view it here
http://swazi.co.nz/product_detail.php?&id=7&section=wet_weather_gear

It's a goretex cagoule designed for hunting in the high country of New Zealands South Island.

Very nice but quite expensive to buy here in NZ about $NZ 600.00

hope this helps

Its a ranger shirt but the sizing is the same for each garment - so a xl ranger is the same size as a bushshirt ect - well spotted though! :naughty:

Ray seems to have more coats then me and that is saying someting. Every time someone asks what was the jacket he was wearing it is a different one to last time bonus of free fit I suppose. I think better post in the kitaholic thread now as well.

My Swanni Bushshirt is an XL and is a good fit. My chest measurement is 42 inch. I got Georgina to sew some press studs along the bottom and about half up on the inside so I can change the length. Now I'm able to wear it under my Snowsled Smock.

There was a bushcraft stand at the Midland Game fair at Weston Park - I'm ashamed to say the name of which escapes me - selling Swazi products. It looked to be really nice kit.
