Sparhook billhook if you want a small light billhook. Knighton maybe more suited however.
A Leuku might be another option.

How about a good ol Karate chop..
Trouble is my hand has gone blunt!

As could I (and often do)
Just looking for something different

(Not an axe)
May I ask why not?
The MOD knife does a good job when sharp.
Mmm the Knighton pattern looks interesting

Some nice vintage ones here.. (http://www.timelesstools.co.uk/edgetools.htm)
How about a froe? It's a simple, non-sharp blade fitted with a handle. Using a mallet or handy piece of wood, you hammer the blade into the endgrain of a length of wood, and pull the handle to split it. It's useful not just for splitting kindling, but is great for making shingles, splitting tool handle blanks and so forth. It's more PC (if that sort of thing is important to you), safer when tired and safer for less experienced persons than a chopping blade.
Your cleaver may still be used for meat. But a lot of Butchers shops have 'nicely worn in' wooden handled cleavers hanging around that are a bit past useable for them or not in use because of new regs' (if said Butchers take any notice ).
Might be worth a recce' (don't come to where I work though - Ive already 'acquired' ours !!)

I have a wee cheap axe, it works better than anything else
What about this one, i have a few roughneck tools and they have all been good, i know you said not an axe but they are good

failing that frost do a double handled knife i read can be used for kindling

Thought about the Knighton,
Looks a good one
Thought about this thread the other day when I was in Welshpool poking around on the old tool stall there. If you ever find yourself in the area I recommend a look
I bought this Elwell 10" Knighton which would (and will) make a stonking kindling kninfe or indeed be pretty cool for shelter building and other heavy camp knife chores. The guy had a great selection of full tidied up good make bill hooks - almost all £20 or less

It would have been rude to leave it!
