View Full Version : Pyrotechnology at the Crannog.
A bit late I know, but I've only really just tied down details.
On the 12th of this month there's a Norwegian man coming over to run a Primitive Firelighting demo at the Crannog.
http://www.crannog.co.uk/docs/crannog_centre/events_diary_autumn.html
He kept the fires going, during some really dreich weather in Latvia, for our dyeing in the middle of an open field, so he's sound :approve:
Barrie has agreed to allow us access to the Dalherb site again.
If we camp there and go over to the Crannog to visit it would be easier on their staff who can get a bit stressed over the, "Who he? " kind of thing, worrying if we ought to be in and out the back or not.
The site is available from the Friday to the Sunday and we're fixing ot have anew numerical padlock so no issues with keys.
I know it's late notice but is anybody interested in coming along ?
cheers,
Toddy

I'm prob. in the Blackmount/Etive area but would like to goto the demos if not the camping.
Can't take a school grp, too complex a risk assessment.
Nick
The Crannog is set up to deal with children's groups if that's of any help. There are frequent school tours.
I know RA's and H&S is a real pain for some sites though.
You'd be very welcome to visit whenever you can manage :)
cheers,
Toddy

I'll have the family up there slumming it at Moness House Hotel & Country Club :D anyway as it's our school holiday week. We'll definitely try and pop in on the Sunday, seems like a good day for it if some guys are burning things, someone's making bread and there's a bunch of guys in ventile green roaming around!
Cheers,
Alan

Weekend weather is looking OK for that area too, wee bit rainy on Friday night but dry and calm for the weekend
Cheers,
Alan
Himself has just told me that there'll be high winds and heavy rain on the Friday  Guess we'll leave the 'chute until the Saturday then.

I'd be there except it's my birthday that weekend and Katy has something lined up for me.
If I went, she'd kill me :D
OH yes, :D
Happy Birthday to you, Happy Birthday to you....:D
The Vikings sang it to me at Lanark Medieval Fayre this year :o :D
Hope it's a very good one Graham :grouphug:

Hi All,
Took the family up to the Crannog and they loved it, little chainsaw had a go with Toddys firebow set, lots of smoke but no joy, he's now on at me to put one together for him, thanks Toddy!;)
