What do you wear for base and mid layers. Generally anything other than your outer layers you wear to keep warm.

Just curious

Mine are a mixture of Ullfrotte and craghopper merino for the base and either a swanni or an old fleece over that. Also got a ripstop S95 DPM jacket which gets a bit of abuse now and then.

I also carry Ullfrotte as baselayer and on top of that usually a fleece or a military wool shirt. And I'll be ordering thicker Ullfrotte to replace the fleece, must admit I love it ;)

Cheers,
Lasse

I use mostly wool as a baselayer. Ullfrotte (army issue), Janus, basically anything of wool. As mid layer I use a wool sweater from Dale (winter), shirt from Fjellreven in G1000 (summer) or a army DPM fleeze jacket (winter/summer).

i bought loads of the aldi merino tops when they last came out and still got a few. I think they were £7.99 which is loads cheaper than most merino shirts ive seen elsewhere. nice shirts too, thumb loops, zip neck, muted colours. keep scanning the leaflets hoping they come back

woolen base layer (ullfrotté, devold or brynje) or net base layer (brynje). Knitted sweaters (homemade), flannel shirts or swannis for mid layer.

I use long johns made of some sort of synthetic mostly. I'd prefer wool but there's a huge price difference. You just have to go to a place which sells to working people (i.e. builders or farmers) rather than pay 5x the price in a sports shop for mountain underwear!
To be honest I find it as easy to dress for the woods as the city. With air conditioning an heating you can go from -20 to +20 in 10 paces which makes it a real struggle to dress right

I have one of these and its not bad at all, but prefer the white ones he does.
They are very light and fast drying. I bought the size larger and put it on a boil wash and put loads of fabric conditioner in. This got rid of the itcheness as the white ones are all wool.
This is normally my working top with a t-shirt over it and then a ventile over that. If its cold either one of my blanket waist coats or a bison guide shirt.

The white ones do sound good, but that guy in the photo needs to cheer up a bit.

Are the white ones at Endicotts sized, by the way? Or is it one size fits all!

I think they are sized and there was an offer on them (well last year anyway). Just tell Kev you are related to the model in the photo and!!!!!!! - he'll probably charge you double!
I think they are sized and there was a two for three offer on them - my advice would be to snap them up - really good kit.
Just for transparency - I was given one to try, to see if they were suitable for the bushcraft market (this was 11 months before thay appeared on the website - so that one top got trashed to hell, boiled, ironed, you name it! it got it). It got fully tested. I have not recieved any discounts or financial renumeration for the test. HOWEVER.... I do think they are very good kit and have bought several since at the regular price.

They are very light warm and comfortable; the only problem is the sleeves seem short for me and the neck is a bit wide so they aint no fashion item but they are warm which is the point
excellent value
