...Change of venue, same fun, and a new food experience...
Friday night and I spend a quiet moment around the fire with my son and a friend
http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a252/stovie/Picture002copy.jpg
saturday morning and the troop descends
http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a252/stovie/Picture014copy.jpg
Hazel withy grill
http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a252/stovie/Picture004copy.jpg
and in action
http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a252/stovie/Picture008copy.jpg
Saturday supper prepared and left to stew for a couple of hours while we head off on an 8 click hike...
http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a252/stovie/Picture006copy.jpg
Cooking range
http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a252/stovie/Picture011copy.jpg
Sunday Morning spent being kids, crossing a mediaeval moat monkey style...this is my daughter
http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a252/stovie/Picture020copy.jpg
Then the pit oven...having heated the rocks for a couple of hours theshoulder of lamb is placed in the centre and surrounded by pots, carrots and onions
http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a252/stovie/Lambcopy.jpg
Wet cabbage leaves placed over the meat
http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a252/stovie/Picture027copy.jpg
and soaked Hazel boughs over that
http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a252/stovie/Picture029copy.jpg
then the whole thing covered in soil
http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a252/stovie/Picture031copy.jpg
The finished oven...took five minutes from start to finish
http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a252/stovie/Picture033copy.jpg
chased the scouts off for a couple of hours and had a quiet cup of coffee
http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a252/stovie/Picture035copy.jpg
To an expectant crowd of hungry youngsters the pit is uncovered
http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a252/stovie/Picture044copy.jpg
The lamb is succulent...much to everyones relief
http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a252/stovie/Picture046copy.jpg
And the famished wretches ask for more
http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a252/stovie/Picture055copy.jpg
Another great weekend, and boy were we lucky with the weather...
