View Full Version : BC weekend in the Nederlands 26th to 28th September
Hi All,
Me and a friend are going to do some bushcrafting in the weekend of the 26th to the 28th of september. I have found a location in a piece of forrest where we can set up camp and are allowed to build a fire near valkenswaard.
Through this forum I would like to invite anyone to join us, as it would be nice to meet some fellow bushcrafters.
If you would like to come, please let me know as soon as possible. For the location we need to pay € 1,= per day per person I'm guessing this won't be a problem for most of you. Also I will need your full name, adress and telephone number for the fire permit 1 week before we go. You can send these by private message.
I do not have any program for this weekend, we can decide what to do if we get there.
OK, I hope to get some response, so we can have a fun weekend.
Grtz,
Niels

Hi everyone,
sad to say that I can't be there that weekend, work's keeping me busy. Have fun guys!
Hi Jurjen,
Sorry to hear you can't be there.... Hope to meet you in januari though.....
And stijn, if your OV card doesn't arrive in time, let me know, maybe we can figure something out. If it does arrive in time, maybe we can meet at eindhoven central station and I can pich you up there. I'll pass this on the way anyway.
Also where are all the other dutchies ???
Grtz,
Niels
This weekend I went to have a look at the intended camp site, looks nice. Reasonably big piece of woodland, connected to other woodland. No buildings close to the site, and some distance from the roads.
Also a nice place for campfire's. No litter etc.
Grtz,
Niels
Aha!, found this thread after lurking in the Bushcraft Chatter section. Sounds good to me, I live in Oss - and have a new Hennessy Explorer underway.
Can't be sure I'll be there though, will let you know as soon as I'm sure.

Niels,
Just checked with the wife she says I can come ;)

Hi Niels,
I will come to Valkenswaard.
Am looking forward to it. I depart from Zwijndrecht, in case some one likes carpooling.

hi Niels,
I can't make it that weekend, but i wish everyone a great time. The weekend of 13 and 14 septembre i'm having a "primitive weekend" myself in the woods with 14 of my scouting friends. The weekend of 1 and 2 november a couple of us will be attending the bushcraftweekend in Apeldoorn at the HAPS project. So we keep ourselves quite busy.
And perhaps we can do something together in the future.
Have fun,
Theo
Hi Theo,
Sorry to hear you can't make it. Hope to meet you sometime though, for I'm also interested in becoming a scouting member (again). I would like the oppertunity to talk to you about it.
I also hope you have a great time at your primitive weekend. And I hope to get to Haps aswell, so maybe we 'll meet there.
My other plans are off, so sounds good to me!
Hi Thijzz,
great hope to meet you there then. Can you send me PM with your name and adress ?
Just a quick update:
So far 11 people (including me) are comming to the weekend, so it should be a nice crowd. I will be paying the camping fee tomorrow, or the day after tomorrow. So if anybody wants to cancel, please let me know as soon as possible.
Everybody is welkom at the site from 12 o clock in the afternoon on the 26 th, I will be arriving there around that time. the route to the site can be found on the website:
http://www.malpieschebergen.scouting. nl/index.php?index
Please also look at the camp rules at the site.

Do you have a rough idea on the cost ?
Hi All,
The cost will be 1 euro per person per day, so this should amount to the grand total of 3 euro's per person for the complete weekend.
So if everybody could bring this I would be very gratefull.
will everyone cook his own dinner or will it be one big feast like the dbm?
and is there a Refrigerator?
groeten.

Man thats expensive ;)
The natuur camping here charges 4 euros a night!!! and i thought that was cheap!
mind you there is no need to bring your own shovel hehehehehehehehe
Cant wait..

I'm afraid there is no refrigerator, and I counted on cooking my own dinner, but if anybody has an better idea, by al means...... I'm open to suggestions.
Man thats expensive
Ok then it is good thing I can offer a 33 % price reduction :lmao:.
No seriously, I counted on three days (friday, saterday and sunday) but I just got of the phone with the caretaker, and I should have counted the nights......
This reduces the total costs to the staggering amount of 2 euro's per person.

Hey guys, make sure to treat us all to some pictures when you're finished. I'm getting curious about this location.
I'm not going to make it.. but interested in the location.. I may be moving from Glasgow to Overijssel soon.. and want to know places I can camp out.. so any pictures when you are back would be great :)
also.. any of you in that area??
Veel plezier :D
Hi Folks,
Off course the camara is ready in the pack, watch the bushcraft chatter for a new thread somewhere after the weekend.
Now for all of you who are comming, I was just thinking about Stijn's idea of having dinner together at saterday and it just occured to me that with 11 people it might be nich to all chip in some money, and buy meat and veggies on saterday in the nearby village.
My thought would be to build a polynesian oven together....
I have never tried it, but from what I've seen on TV this would be very nice.
Tell us what you think !!!!!!
sounds great, bringing fresh meat would be a problem becouse of the refridguration, but a small expedition/hunt to a supermarket would be a good solution.
As for the earth oven, if someone can bring heat-proof stones, that would be great(still having good memories about the hangi at the dbm:D )
Depending on the food brung or bought we might also be able to make a stew or a willow grill.
looking forward:D

As per meat... can you not plastic bag it and put it in a water hole cover it up should be cool enough ?
Thats were I live ;) when you move let me know meet up wee dram.. and talk camp outs ;)
I'll definately take you up on that offer :) I'd prob be moving to the Hengelo/Delden area.. at the moment my Dutch is really poor but I'm learning all the time ;)

Hmmm never tried this, but you probably need some means of vacuum packing for this ? Maybe you can show us when we get there ??

Maybe we can chat some about this at the weekend as well, as I'm always looking for possibilities to get out there. Also very interested in kayakking and I understand you know all about this....

I'll bring a nice one from my collection as well.... As a frequent visitor of the wiskey events in Leiden en Gent, and other nosings and tastings I get a chance to and having what I think is a nice collection at home it appears we have something else in common.
Single malts and bushcraft seam to gfo together pretty well. Along with some sigars and maybe a pipe.....
About food: I would say take some with us and do a foraging trip to the local supermarket. Always a blast to walk in there with 3 or 4 guys in full bush gear :D ....with a trolley car :lmao:
I'll see what we have for "nippy sweeties".
