Herts/North London meet

[Mesquite]

I'm in discussions with the landowner of the wood where I go to see if he'd mind having a group of people have a meet there occasionally. He wants to have a rough idea of likely numbers before he says yes or no. So this is just a general query to gauge interest from people.

The wood is in the Watford/Rickmansworth area and is approximately 14 acres of primarily of larch interspersed with various decidious trees. Plenty of suitable trees for the hammock dwellers as well There's plenty of fallen wood and loads of flint free for collecion.

Likely to be w/end of 19/20 September as that's when the little wifey is away so I can do what I like that weekend :D

So would anyone be inerested in joining me for a couple nights out?

No probs Mick. If the reserve list gets much larger and the landowner doesn't want too big a group what I may do is see if I can't arrange another weekend and those on the reserve with go to the top of the list for that meet.

I've got approval from the landowner for us to use the woods for a meet and even better news is he's not too fussed with numbers attending. So those that were on the reserve list are able to come along as well :)

I'll keep the list closed as we've 14 who expressed interest originally and anyone else who would like to go on a new reserve list please shout out. Those of you who are on the main list please can you confirm you're able to come along and I'll alter the main list. The weekend will be from 3:00pm Friday 19th September until 3pm Sunday 21st September. Once I've got confirmations from all those that wish to come along I'll PM you exact details of location etc. If you don't confirm by the 9th September I'll offer your space up to the first person on the reserve list.

No fees, but I'll probably take a small donation off of everyone to buy the landowner a bottle of something nice for letting us stay.

EDIT: Also the contribution will go towards covering the cost of me having to get a combination lock for the entrance gate. That will save me having to drive the half mile or so to open up each time someone arrives :D

Just a bump to remind those folks who haven't confirmed as of yet if they're going to come along to let me know.

The other thing is do we want to have a social group meal on the Saturday night? What do people think about that and if you would like to have a group meal what are we going to cook?

Also, a couple of folks have kindly volunteered to do a couple demos if people would like this. Things offered are bird traps, cordage, shelter building (though there isn't that much suitable leaf litter laying around in the wood) and a couple other bits and bobs. Is there anything particular that people might like to do while we're in the woods? If there is speak up and we'll see if one of the others attending might be able to help out. :)
