I had one almost exactly the same made by Bergans, it was red with those side pockets but the straps were grey. It was huge, about 100-120 litres. I used mine when I worked as a fencer to lug my fencing gear up and over hills when doing repair jobs!
A friend gave it to me, it wasn't an issue bergan it was from his brother who worked in Norway in the early 80's.

It wwas tough as old boots but I wasn't keen on the bottom of the frame. When it was really full-think a roll of fencing wire, monkey strainers, hammer, staples and maul...:eek: the frame would dig in to my lower back! I wrapped it in roll mat and gaffa tape to sort that out! By the way it was tougher and better than ANY commercial ruck at the time!
