Hey all!!

I am very much looking forward to attending this years moot and putting some faces to the names i have come to know over the past year. my reason for posting is simple, upon arrival what do i do from there? i assume there is a communal area. do you just go off and find somwhere to camp on your own or do you go off in groups? Is there anybody travelling from the cardiff area at all that would fancy hooking up before hand?

Basically would like to know how it all works?

Hope you can help me! see you there!

Dan:D

based on what happened when I went last year, it's turn up, check in with the staff, they'll tell you where you can camp and tell you what the format is, and tell you a time to meet up in a certain area for safety demos / instructions etc...

Yeah, pretty much what dommyracer said.

As long as you check in when you arrive, and peruse the rule sheet they now hand out, then you're pretty much free to do as you please.
There is usually a quite obvious 'checking in' point near to the communal area/toilets/shop where Shelly will greet you and explain a few details.

If you don't know anyone there then don't worry - I was in that position on my first Bushmoot but was soon welcomed into a little group which made the whole experiance very enjoyable. Most people will go out of their way to help you get sorted out if you're feeling a little lost.

Just be sure not to pitch next to the Naughty Corner if you're fond of sleeping ;) :p

As above :D

Check in, find somewhere you want to set up, set up, have a wander about, talk to people etc. There's a big chute over an area on the other side of the wooden fort, that's where most get together in the evenings.

The camping area is huge so there's plenty of space. Key is to walk about with a smile on your face and have a chat where possible. Remember that everyone there is usually more than happy to be asked questions, give advice and contribute where possible.

If you need any help then just ask.

it's relaxed and so are the people there, there's not a lot to do wrong apart from not enjoy yourself :D

Lads - this is an awesome thread!

More! More! More! :)

And I'm not even going. :(

But I want to know what happens! Will the two intrepid heroes meet in the ****-end of Cardiff?

Will the '71 VW Camper make it all the way to the Moot?

Will Tengu have to rescue them after all?

Does Cap'n Badger really talk like Long John Silver-arrrrrrr! :D

And can he keep it up for the whole Moot, despite the lake of alcohol in the Naughty Corner? :1244:

Come on! What's happening? :puppy_dog

Man, do you need a holiday :D

Hey, at least you're at the right side of the country to get there for yourself, I've got the travail through the dangerous shark infested (motorway service stations  ) territory of the Angles before I get to the Cymru :)

What's the preferred grog then Cap'n ?

cheers,

Ah, I wondered if it were home made stuff only...........and was thinking that the Moot might be Hangover Central if folks tried out the variety that was sure to be on offer :D

This will be my first visit too Woodstock, but from all accounts the drinking is simply a bit of socialising, not something heavy on the bevvy.

cheers,
Toddy

Cleverly, as it turned out, Tony managed to avoid sampling my homemade sloe gin, leaving more for me to drink. Sadly, when I was in my cups I spilt a drop on my folding seat, not long afterwards the aluminium strut dissolved and it collapsed under me. ;)

I'll be back again this year, I'll be bringing the Mrs and staying for the full week this time. :)

And when you actually see the good Cap'n it'll be obvious why he was christened with such a name. Really could NOT have been called anything else!

I can also be safe in the knowledge that the 'Naughty Corner' will disturb my nights sleep and i'm not going! I'll be 8 miles away in Llantwit major! Enjoy one and all, i may pop in for a day with Jed Jnr, but if not see you at next years Moot.

If you all like, I can do a bushmoot tutorial on `bush hangover cures`

It looks a little like this.
1 bacon butty.
2 alkerseltzer , foraged from your nearest chemist
3 back to bed/floor/hamock/ditch

Does the bacon butty come with brown sauce, preferably HP sauce?

I suspect HP brown sauce is just made out of sugar , boot polish and acorns so I can make you some if you like :) (I hate that stuff)

Nah, it never gets rowdy.

It's just... You know when you're all sitting round a fire, facing inward and it's pitch black around you and you kind of lose perspective of other things that are around because, even though you're in the open, you kind of feel 'enclosed'?
Well it's very easy to get a little carried away with noise in that situation :o

And it's easy to kind of lose track of time a bit :o

Sorry Adam, I still feel bad mate.

I think he said if this was the case just throw in a teaspoon of yeast to kick start it. Don't give up I'd like to try some if there's any going spare. :beerchug:

We had to put yeast in ours to get it going. Put about 10g per 12 litres. Seems to have worked fine. Will bring some to the moot! :D

Ladies and Gentle men attending the Moot unfortunately I shall not be there but I have some hard won advice for you all. Hangovers only ever appear after you have had some sleep, therefore sleep = hangover ergo no sleep = no hangover. I hope you all have a most excellent time good luck.

andy_e
03-07-2008, 16:07
They also only appear once you've stopped drinking, ergo .... :beerchug:

Cheers for that. Yeast is in it, lets see how it goes. Not sure how much we made, just "a big buckets worth" come to think of it, I hope their was enough sugar in, we put in "A packets worth" And I hope there is the right amount of elderflowers, we put in "an asda carrierbags worth"

To top it off, we weren't sober either.
