Hi...

Does anyone know something about this blade or own the knife?? :-)

Picture of the blade (http://www.brusletto.no/photoalbum/view/?size=org&id=20580)

I'm just about to buy a cheap Granbit blade and make my 2'nd knife.
The blade is 11 cm. long and pretty straight. It has, what looks like a false edge to me, on the last inch of the blade or so?? :?:
The steel is stainless, but as long as it's 12c27 sandvik, I don't bother. This is really good steel for me. :o):

If you don't know anything about it, can you please type the pros and cons of the blade shape... What's it best for?? Etc. :biggthump

:pack:

Andy, www.ragweedforge.com drop Ragnar an email and tell him I sent you. He knows scandis and the various makers. Most scandi knives will taper at the point looking down from the spine ===> . The finished knife in stainless doesn't appear to have this false edge. It may be a simple cosmetic blem or a minor variance in this model. In the real world it wont effect performance that much.

Hi...

Now I have bought a blade + a handle block. Expect it to arrive monday or tuesday. I'm gonna use it for bushcraft as the Karesuando Ørnen is grinded in a too steep angle to be good for carving and the 'Bamsen' is a little too big. :-)

Here's the plan: a light birch handle which is about 11 cm. long. Big pommel to crack nuts. Well, I'll take a pic when it's done, but parents got it in China, so won't be for a while. :-) :biggthump

Andy, I have got a Brusletto with a very similair blade design to that, it is now a trusty old companion, the steel holds a pretty good edge and i've found it to be a lot more robust than I would of thought it to be. :-)

Ye, I have the Bamsen from Brusletto. I just needed a little smaller blade. The spine is very thick, about 4 mm, and I think it holds just as good an edge as a carbon. But 12c27 is high carbon stainless steel if I remember right??

I'm making the knife right now. Well, not right now, but from time to time. :-) Need glue right now....

Well, knife only needs some glue now and then it's done. And then of course the sheath.

But I've found a name for it. My "Grandy" knife........ It's a mix between 'Granbit' and 'Andy'...! :D :biggthump

I'll take a picture monday and then do a field test.
