I found this saucepan in a charity shop for £1

Thinking about removing handle and drilling holes to place chain to hang over fire.

If the handle is hollow you could leave it on, then you've got a pan you can puch into the fire on a long stick. A bit more awkward to carry but easier to use.

The thick bottom might be a problem if used on a woodfire.
