Im not sure which folder to put this in so please move it if its more appropriate somewhere else. I'd like to get a hammock for the bushmoot, I don't like lugging a heavy tent around with me. Ive been looking at hammocks on ebay and most seem to be in the £70 - £100 range. The bushcrafty ones anyway.

well Ok I can see the problem with the last one - you'll likely snap the branches, but seriously, is a cheap hammock good enough?. Im not paticularly looking for something thats going to last a life time, just something thats comfortable and safe. Waterproof might be a useful feature as well.
I got a cheapie off ebay and it was pretty good, a little shoddily made and the fixings are poor but for the money it is ok, well until I broke it. I now have a DD travel hammock from the group buy here, its far better made and all round stronger, the ebay one was £15 and the group buy one was a bit over £30

i have ordered one of the tenth wonder hammocks as an experiment. will review it when i get it. see how it compares to the DD camping hammock that i currently use

There is an XL one which might be better
The DD (travel) hammock rocks (pardon the pune ;)) and is great value for money, I'd buy from the Group Buy.
Don't forget you are going to need a sleeping mat or underblanket, a Tarp - which most come without guylines or the ridgeline so you are going to have to buy those as well.
For the Ridgeline, paracord, about 25 feet.
For the guylines, go to your local hardware shop and buy a largeish roll of pull cord - the type of stuff for the bathroom light. I bought 100 meters of the stuff for £22 as it was cheaper to buy in bulk.
You will need to learn these knots:
Taut Line Hitch - Guylines
Evenk/Falconers Knot - One end of tarp line
Power cinch - Other end of tarp line.

The Tenth Wonder XL looks very interesting - I'm 6ʹ3ʺ.

The most important (and only?) difference is the Travel Hammock has mosquito netting.
I like the Mosquito Jungle Hammocks that woodland edge stock - looks to come with tarp, all the guy lines etc and has a built in mossy net.
Also being 6'4" they look to be plenty long enough too.

Personally as its only £10 difference I think i'll stick to the woodland edge site if i do decide to order it, as its recorded delivery (e.g. next day, and garanteed to not get lost at sea/air) and garanteed no import taxes too.

it arrived very quickly in the post.
it arrived in a plastic bad with a chinise dragon on it, and a logo with "DD" on it. i think they may be imitating someone elses product? lol
the hamock is folded flat, like a sheet, and the flat rope is not threaded into the hamock. its not hard to do yourself though.
the fabric used in the hamock is a more plasticy feeling, heavier nylon than the dd hamock, making it a slightly more heavy hamock (feeling anyway. i didn't weigh it). it is constructed in the very same way as the dd camping hamocks, only there is no zip closing the top and bottom layers. if you sleep on the top of both layers, this will be no problem i guess. i sleep "in" my dd camping hamock with it zipped up to my face, so i like the zip.
the stitching in the hamock is pretty messy and light. not as sturdy as my dd hamock.
the flat rope supplied is pretty much the same as in the dd hamocks. you only get two, eight foot lengths of it though. so its a tight fit. one of the ropes i recieved was damaged. looks like manufacturing fault. perhaps they buy in seconds from the rope manufactures? i dunno. not bad enough to make it un-usable. especially as i am light.
hamock does not ship with a bag to put the hamock in.
bottom line on the tenth wonder hamocks. they work. but you get what you pay for. the extra touch of quality of a dd camping hamock is worth the extra few quid, but if you are seriously strapped, this will do the job just fine.
i will try do up a proper review later on with pics and all that if it would help people.
