I have an ex army gortex bivi bag that I have had for a little while. The last time I used it the foot of the bag was sticking out a bit from underneath the tarp and it rained all night.

when I woke in the morning the bottom of my sleeping bag was wet (not soaking) I was wondering if this is normal as I know from experience some gortex is not waterproof (despite the claims) or should you be able to sleep exposed to the elements without a problem.

can you re waterproof them like you can a coat ?

thanks for any advice

You should be able to sleep out in it and stay dry, so I would wash it and retreat it before Friday as the forecast is wet! :banghead:

Wash it with Nikwax Techwash
Reproof it with Nikwax TX Direct

Low setting Tumble dry helps bring back the water shedding finish too.
