For the bigger guys n gals out there.

After reading many posts on as many different outdoor forums asking me for requests for information on bigger sized outdoor items, I thought it was about time we could have a resource for all those bigger folks out there, taller, wider or both! So here is a list of items that are available for the larger person. I would be grateful if people could cut and paste this list in their post while contributing to it if possible with suppliers. It would be really nice if we could make this a sticky. So here is a start.

Good idea. I'm by no means particularly tall nor exceptionally wide, yet even so I encounter problems with the sizing of many items, especially clothing where the dreaded words "Athletic cut" show up in the description ;)

The number one problem for me, though, is head size. Very few stockists carry larger hat sizes (I take a size 8, or XXXL) so I've made a point of finding some over the years:

Some of Norrønas stuff (recon for instance) are cut very generously. Robens (www.robens.pl) makes down sleeping bags to very low cost, even custom ones (in the EU so no risk for VAT or toll stuff). Cabelas has a great size range on their clothing, and an insane range of clothes!

I'm not really big, more tall with wide shoulders and long arms, and nine inch hips.. Which makes XXL look like an ill set sail on me body. Most us based stores sell in size tall xl, what a blessing!

Nice find there spamel, I reckon you'd look swell in it.
