I've a little inside info on the series, or at least one episode...
I was talking to John lord, who teaches flint knapping on Rays classes. He was asked to make some flint tools suitable for making a primitive bow. I think chris, Rays bow maker will demo how it's done. Should be interesting.
Oh, if your interested in flint knapping have a look at Johns site www.flintknapping.co.uk

A little more insider info... One of the programmes features a birchbark canoe being tested against the modern equivalent in Canada. Should be interesting stuff.
I could tell you how I know that, but then I'd have to kill you.

I am excited already it has been so long since his last series I've had withdrawl symptoms. My wife was a bit concerned when she saw I had written the first program on the kitchen calender (sad I know) but I didn't want to forget.
Bill
haha.. i set a reminder in my mobile so it should make a lot of noise 5 mins before.. and its on the calender :)

Thank God! It's not just me! Even better, I've set a reminder alarm on my watch for 10 mins beforehand.
Taken from the BBC website, next weeks episode is...
Ray Mears' Bushcraft
Thu 9 Sep, 8:00 pm - 9:00 pm 60mins
Aboriginal Britain
Ray Mears explores the world of Bushcraft, the art of living outdoors relying on a knowledge of the natural world. Tonight he travels back in time to the Stone Age for a unique view of Aboriginal Britain.
Using only the tools of the time, Ray shows how hunter gatherers survived here. From flint napping to bow making, Stone Age fire lighting to cooking venison, Ray celebrates our lost Bushcraft and encourages us to see our land in a new light.
Great to see Ray has a new programe out, seems ages since his last one.Really looking forward to it now.
looks like there will be a lemming style mass suicide if the prgram isn't upto expectations
(In fact lemmings don't commit suicide at all once every four years or so teh plants they eat become poisonous so most of them die off)
Well I for one am really looking forward to watching it..... I guess these forums will be empty for an hour while its on..... then the hundreds of posts will follow ;-)

I think it's going to be great to get more knowledge about where we live. I'm going to be watching it. Everyone set your video recorders as well as there are bound to be a few that miss it and kick themselves!!
A pity we can't all get together around a big screen...or is that a bit geeky...can bushcrafters be geeky? :?: Ummm :o):

My wife thinks I have virtual friends here who don't really exist already. I think we are well past geeky and out the other side in a much better place.
 But hey everyone else is just jealous (or so I like to think)

Ray Mears' Bushcraft
Thu 16 Sep, 8:00 pm - 9:00 pm 60mins
Jungle Camp
Ray Mears explores the world of Bushcraft: the art of surviving by relying on a knowledge of the natural world. This week he sets up camp in the Amazon Jungle near a native village to experience living Bushcraft.
Ray encounters poison dart frogs and climbs into the canopy to gain a unique perspective on his surroundings. He paints a moving picture of what it's actually like to live deep in the jungle and forms a lasting bond with the people whose world this is.
 I actually thought this was going to be a little series, that we could use all of, for inspiration  But hey, it may be much better than it sounds. I know that I'll still watch it just because it's him...I'm really looking forward to tonight’s episode!
Well the first programme has just finished and all I can say is wow - excellent. Not exactly 'tracks' but good none the less.
It was good to see ray butcher that deer too - put pay to the theory of the bbc dumbing things down.
Well done Ray and Well done the bbc!
There was some good stuff in that one, it would be fantastic to have a whole series on the UK, or at least a similar environment. We can only hope :biggthump
So, what did people think?
I MISSED IT!!! I got an email from woodlore about a lecture Ray is doing. Someting about his own survival experience, a helicopter crash? Whilst filming his series.
