This is a fun a simple thing for children to make and then float on a local pond....

thats sweet! i like all these things you make from cattalils! The dolls were the best! :D Know of anything else that can be made from cattails?

The SPT [Society for Primitive Technology] books have a few ideas for similar stuff; I think that Mors K may have been a contributor.

Decoys were usually made from tule (true Bullrush AKA clubrush), but cattail (Reed Mace) was also used.
