In my somewhat out of date mini Oxford Dictionary, the definition of Avatar reads “Hindu Myth - decent to earth and incarnation of deity.”

Does anyone know how the meaning has evolved with regard to us using the term as the name for our logos.

Thanks

The Avatar is the way the deity is represented in another (earthly rather that etherial )domain, just as our Avatars are our representations in another (digital) domain.

Cheers
