View Full Version : Who/what/where would you be?
Hi All
I had a strange dream last night which was like something from the Lord of the Rings living in a house like a Hobbit(Hole in the ground with windows) not a sign of a car, pubs with people drinking from tankards and smoking long pipes, real sort of oldy worldy and all though nothing much happened in the dream I was totally fed up when I woke up and realised it hadn't happened.
If you could be any character mythical or real at any point in time or any place real or not,who/what and where would you be?
I would settle for something like a Hobbit, the biggest worry would be eating on time! Nice simple life!

That sounds like my way of thinking maybe two malamutes instead of the huskies and Canada instead of California

Would have to be Strider (Aragorn) for me, the elusive wanderer who lives in the woods and frequents the pubs, bit of a dark horse, and then lo and behold he becomes a king and marries Liv Tyler......Oh yes....

I'm content being me but If I was as healthy as I was at 18 at 30 I would have emigrated to Canada or Oz and lived out bush somewhere with minimal income, as long as I had health insurance I would have been fine...:)

I'd just be me. Maybe change my residence, would prefer to be taller :cool: , have a little more spare time, but I'm happy being me, with my wife and kids.

I would still like to be me with my wife and my two boys but living in the middle of my own wood in a nice brick and flint cottage with loads of beams and a huge inglenook and I would like it to be somewhere that gets proper Winters with SNOW :(
I am really happy been me. But I would prefer to live in round house, early iron age. Lord of the rings does look really appealing especially the race of man but then they look late iron age with magic.
I had never heard of the WolfBrother book until I read this thread and did a search. I found this http://books.guardian.co.uk/wolfbrother/ Ian Mckellen reading the book.

Those pod casts are well worth a listen they are very good as is the book the other two books in the series are also very good Spirit Walker and Soul Eater and there will be another one out this summer called Outcast hopefully.

About all I can say is that, like Elvis Costello, I would rather be anywhere else than here today... (at work, I mean ;))
Sure, I occasionally think it might be nice to be one of Tolkein's elves, but to be honest I don't much fancy immortality, and they did have a pretty rough time of it all in all...
I've become a bit of a fan of these books. And Ian McKellan has the perfect voice for reading them.
There are to be six books in the series. If you read all the blurb at the back of them the author (Michelle Paver) says a lot about her research, etc and this makes for interesting reading too. Outcast is out in September.
If anybody wishes to borrow them drop me a pm and I can send any of the first three to you.

Just had another thought - I would love to have a good look round Hogwart's and that brilliant street in the first Harry Potter film - Love the bit with all the pumpkins hanging in mid air over the dining hall :)
